I am a sucker for shampoo ads. My hair is inclined to be a bit on the dull side, so whenever I see a new shampoo advert my eyes light up. My OH has got to saying "no, it won't work" everytime one comes on.

Buy some serum, only use a tiny bit, use it on wet or dry hair. I have to be careful with mine as it's fine and soon looks greasy. I rub a tiny drop in my palms and wipe over hair. A small tube last me more than a year.
This is also great stuff for children with long hair, put it on wet hair and it stops tangles (and apparently helps stops headlice attaching to hair)

    Not a TV Ad but...

I recieved an email entitled "You really shouldn't open this email" from Gü desserts.

The picture of a gorgeous chocolate pudding and wording, along the lines of "It’s a good feeling isn’t it, giving in?" REALLY made me want one! :o

That's like that advert for a lager from a few years ago where the man was drinking it and obviously enjoying it, but said "you won't like it". I think it began with a M.

    What's serum?

OK had a look on google, seems like there's lots, are they all the same?

  • did his 'fight' between the Devon way scone and the Cornwall way scone, just to see which was better. We decided it's better to put the cream on first - not sure what way that was but they were yum. Not really an advert but it should worked:D!
  • It all started here, note the funny top to the tube of toothpaste.

We used to use SR Toothpaste - but that was in the days of Retail Price Maintenance (The manufacturer could set the retail price) and my dad could get 25% of most stuff through "the trade".

That is actually better than getting the VAT back. In those bad old days VAT had not been invented. The government only saw the need to rob us of 25% of our money, now it is nearly 50% of a much larger figure.

When Argos advertise a new catalogue I'll take a meander there to pick one up.

I think I have advertisers products in mind sometimes but often await a special deal. i.e. Cilit Bang, Dettol no touch, Clover.

Like others I'll skip through loads of ads via PVR or will be doing something else like skip to loo/making a cuppa/feed cat/rubbish out/sandwich/wash up/put washing away/internet blah blah
  • I don't know if it's purchasing something, but years ago The ad for Goldfish caught my attention and I got their Credit Card (I always pay off at the end of the month) for the rewards; which at the time was money off your gas bill. They then went on to give points which could be traded for vouchers and I was with them until they were taken over by Barclays who offer mere scraps in comparison to the original deal!

I dont have a TV but I am a sucker for lotions and potions. Or lipstick that claims to stay put. Obviously I am continuously let down by the latter but still my futile quest will continue. The OH says I am a marketing mans dream! Anything I spot in a mag will normally have to be checked out.

Also packaging. If it is nicely packaged I am likely to buy it - unless its food. Then I turn into a proper frugal creature.

I know my weaknesses so try to stay away from them.

Yes they are usually clear. Some say for brunette's or blondes or curly hair. Basically they are all the same.
