Hi freeby (and everyone else!) :santa2:
Hope all is well wherever you are, and that you're curled up warm and snuggly on this cold and damp evening.
As you may suspect, this place currently looks like chaos...packing is going well I think, at least I haven't dissolved into a fit of tears, or thrown pans at the neighbours...
Had a friend up for the weekend, and though we didn't do a great deal of packing, we did a lot of general relaxing and *ahem* decluttering the cupboards of food...all very useful activities. Continuing the theme, I've just discovered unopened and in date Dorritos and salsa in the party cupboard (used for treats and spares of essentials...and one that I can't reach without a step) - well, they were unopened until about two minutes ago!
I had one of those nights where for no good reason you just can't sleep, but it meant I put in a few hours quietly packing stuff downstairs, finishing off wrapping Christmas presents and stuffing everything under the tree so I could take this piccie and add a bit of Christmas sparkle to the diary:
Lots of brown paper, homemade tags and ribbon...had planned to get busy with the stamps etc, but to be honest I've not had the motivation or time this year. Something to do midyear if I get bored... see, I've already moved on from this Christmas and am planning next year! *pauses for a crisp, and to ponder where she will be next December*
(Before you ask, Z, I intend to be in my own little home this time next year...just not sure yet which county that'll be in!).
The Christmas stuff all really needs to come down tonight or tomorrow - probably tomorrow as I've got some things I'd like to get onto ebay this evening to end next Sunday...see, never let moving house get in the way of MSE-ing!
On a total aside, I've just seen the BBC link with David Attenborough doing a version of 'wonderful world'...just so charming it made me stop everything and watch. Seeing as I only have the one grandparent left, would anyone mind if I adopted him?? Go on, pleeease...
From an MSE perspective, I have to admit that I haven't really been paying a huge amount of attention over the past few days. Except some of this stuff has obviously started to settle in, as I've not spent much at all, all credit cards (well, the one that's left after the last round of drunken card-chopping!) have been left un-molested, and we've eaten in most of the weekend and worked our way through the cupboards. And while I've been pottering generally, I've decided to ebay my last three posh Monsoon dresses - my style is changing as I move on, so there's no reason for them to take up room in storage.
I have to say, since the huge meltdown last week, I've been massively more positive about the move and the general decluttering. Turns out that while it was a very scary thing to go through (how on earth was I managing two or three of those a day back in May??!!), it was a brilliant kick up the proverbial in terms of being more in control and generally pottering along...
And I do love a fresh start....of course, I really need lists to make sure I keep all of this in control...*scurries off to find the listing pad and pen*
Righto...catch you all later.

love your tree and the parcels, they are so retro and simple and lovely, may just do that next year myself.
i've treated myself to a knitting projeect (i never knit anything for myself as they don't do my size generally). i probably shouldn't be doing such things before i move and i swore blind i wouldn't buy any wool yesterday but i guess my self control gene is faulty at the moment.0 -

You could do worse...Knitting_Nora wrote: »From an MSE perspective, I have to admit that I haven't really been paying a huge amount of attention over the past few days. Glad you're feeling good :T :T
I also love your brown paper parcels - have plans that one year when I am organised (don't anyone hold their breath) I'll manage to do some with block prints and sealing wax.

Good Morning Missus,
I am glad you popped by to say 'hello'.
I love your tree and I love your parcels. I may have to pinch that idea next year. This year I have enough paper left over from previous years to start my own shopso I am going to use all that up first.
You sound good and positive and organised, I wish you lots of love and luck wherever you go :heartsmilFree by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -
Things I have learned today:
1. Never try and revise your BT package while recovering from a nervous breakdown...you will end up confused, and agree to whatever dodgy deal the BT chap tells you about - which will make it impossible to leave without paying through the nose;
2. It doesn't matter how many times BT muck up your bill, or how many times you complain, this is not justification for leaving their *ahem* tight embrace....:mad:;
3. It is easier to rob a bank than to cancel a BT contract cheaply - no matter how many MSE tips you use; and
4. The actual BT system hates me. No, I'm not paranoid - the lady is having masses of difficulty submitting my cancellation request...she's now off to speak with yet another manager to see why there's "an error code [she's] never seen before" on my application...:o
*sigh*
cuppa and a choccie anyone?0 -
Oh poor you... have you at least extracted huge discounts to compensate you for the inconvenience? (it worked for me on British Gas when I made a fourth formal complaint and told them next time I would just move the contract regardless - if you're stuck with them anyhow, threats might be worth a try).
Here's the cuppa :coffee: and *here*, let's break open the champagne truffles a friend gave me yesterday...

Ahhh Rosa - you are a friend indeed.:A
Well, the removal men have been and gone - took them no time at all to pack everything, including the dismantling of a couple of large storage cupboards which was very impressive. Virtually no tea breaks...at least none until the cakes came out of the oven!
Lovely chaps - they've left me more boxes ready for when I pack up my car (and mum's) at the end of the week. Plus they kindly shifted the spare bed (heading on its way to the tip) down two floors for me - and apologised lots that they couldn't offer to dispose of it for me, but their lorry isn't allowed into the tip. Didn't even occur to me to ask!
I've decamped to my bedroom as it's now the only place in the house with somewhere comfortable to sit..though if my typing goes off, it's probably because I've scooched down on the bed and have dozed off!
On that note, I'm off to the postoffice before I really do drift off!!
