I've got her a jumper from ebay (brand new with tags and is gorgeous) for £5.50, a reed diffuser thingy (she loves this kind of thing) from Body Shop which, thanks to an offer, ended up free! and a box of chocolates from M&S which were BOGOF at £2.99.
So MIL's prezzie cost the grand total of £7.00 and is worth about £45 :T

Thank you all, so much, for your hugs and kind thoughts - apparently it made it through, as ahh me, what a difference a good night of sleep makes!
Very true Having come home at lunchtime today from work (have had no voice for two days) and decided I was absolutely shattered. Slept from Midday to 4.30
Move aside, I'm actually quite looking forward to living with my grandad again (did I mention that's where I'm going?). He's a tough old coot, but like me, needs some company for a little while to get him back on his feet after a bit of a tough time. We get on really well (think general mischief), and I think he could do with having someone around who doesn't treat him like a child just because he's old. Plus nd he lives near the coast - which I love, especially in winter...and I have to say, living in the most land-locked part of the UK, I miss rather a lot! Will have to knit us lots of hats and scarves.....
I love the sea, My BF lives on the coast and there is nothing more therapeutic than the lapping of the waves.
Like you Nora I had a breakdown 3 years ago an to be honest some walks by the sea were my saving grace.
Nora
I have to say I love your thread both you and all the other posters are so uplifting in their outlook but "real" in what we all go through in everyday life.
Enough of the seriousness, I also just wanted to compliment you on your beautiful glass work, wish I lived nearer to come and actually buy some.

Hello Nora,
Just thought I would check in and tell you your glass is lovely. And I'm glad you're feeling okay again.
I moved back in with my parents for 2 years about 10 years ago. Best thing I ever did. I could bore you about how it changed my life for the better and how close we became and how grateful I am. I'll just say that there is nothing like coming home, to family who will always want the best for you no matter what.
Take care

Morning 'Verse :hello:
Been a while since I posted properly as I have a friend staying this weekend, and the prep work required on the house (you know...finding the spare room...dusting, decluttering the bed of removal boxes, decontaminating the ensuite etc) had me in a right old spin....
That was until I remembered that my guest is one of my oldest and best friends, and my time could be used much more constructively by putting wine in the fridge to chill.....:D
This particular friend helped me to my early flickering LBM pre '06 - she's brilliant with money (obviously, so am I - but she's brilliant in the way that I actually want to be!!).
She's also someone who can seriously cook, and understands freezer/cupboard suprise....so we're going to do some serious planning time with the fridge, freezer and cupboards....shhhhhh, don't tell the risotto rice...having been in the cupboard for a while, it thinks it's safe....:shhh:
All of this will get going right after my hangover head subsides a little...much fun was had by both catching up yesterday evening....
.....so much fun, in fact, that I came downstairs this morning to discover that we apparently decided to aid my MSE-ness by cutting up credit card 1 and my Next account card!! :rotfl:
I also seem to recall her demanding custody of CC2 so I couldn't use it while my emotions are all over the place during the move....
Chatting last night, it turns out she's an avid MSE fan, and a forum lurker for advice on various things. It's funny, because I know I've recommended this site to all my friends etc., but I didn't know anyone who actually used it like I do.
So anyway, I'm off to cancel my Next account - since the card is history *takes a moment to consider her fallen comrade*, and the balance is nil *skips around the room*, it seems I no longer feel I need the security blanket of the account. Of course, that could be the hangover talking - time will tell!
Have a great day out there...and remember - in the words of the great Freebyfifty "every penny's a prisoner!!!"

I am glad you had a good time last night, you deserve itAnd bloomin' well done on cutting those cards up. I too have a Cap1 card and it is on my list to be got rid of after F/Mans. I'm not brave enough to cut it up yet but I hearby officially invite you to the cutting up ceremony when I do (even though you didn't invite me to yours
)

hi nora, well done on cutting up the two cards
re posting glass, not sure if this would work but you could try popcorn! i bought a gift set from lush ages ago and it was packed in popcorn (i am 99% sure it was real!). you can buy a bag of popping corn for about 59p in sainsburys (sainsburys is def cheaper as i buy loads from everywhere!). when i make mine to eat i put a bit of butter in a pan with salt and cook on a low heat until it pops. obviously you dont want the salt or butter as it will get oily but i am sure if you used a non stick pan on a low heat and shook it a lot then it would not burn. trick is to cook for longer on low heat to get it to pop really big. i reckon you could get at least a bean bag size amount of corn from one little bag so i think if it worked it would def be the cheapest packaging material you could find!:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
Hi Clippy
What a great idea - both as a packing option (how clever is that?!), and as a snack.....I love popcorn, but for some reason, rarely buy it for myself let alone make it.
Hmmmm.......could this be the moment I step away from the chocolate and opt for a more healthy snack.....well *ahem* maybe I'll finish off the four bags of counters in the fridge first...

Don't you dare step away from the chocolate.
You are my chocolate munching buddy and I rely on you to get me through the tough chocolate munching times when you really don't want to but just keep soldiering onFree by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150
