It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Hi Laura - welcome to the insanity! Thanks for your kind words - feeling much better now (see above re. matches ;)).

For the tealights, I've used various types of relief and paints - but I would recommend any that you can bake to harden as this will save you a lot of time, and it packs really well if you want to wrap them. I find Pebeo's vitrea 160 range is good for both the relief and the paint - but it isn't cheap, so rather than going mad on all different colours etc., decide on a scheme of relief and paint colour for all of the sets. For example, if you wanted to do all the tealights in flowers, then just buy a gold relief (these last for yonks - you'll only need one for the tealights unless you go mad!) and one little pot of whatever colour you want to do the petals in (again, this lasts for ages....you'll fall out of love with the tealights long before the paint runs out!).

As gifts, I'd do either two or three together, or do one with a candle plate underneath (available from Matalan for £1, and Sainsburys for similar or a little less I think) and wrap them up - that's what's in the 'packages' to the left of the stall. If you decide to go that way, then don't buy cellophane wrap - I have an industrial size roll, and am willing to share. Just pm me your details, and I'll stick some in the post.

Shout if you need any help.

  • Nope - didn't drink at all yesterday...well, I mean, there was water, orange juice, tea and coke, but I tend to be a one hit wonder on the alcohol trail....don't drink that often at all actually. Can I have a stern mother is a little proud pat on the head please?
  • :EasterBun

I found this and thought of you - lol x

You sound a bit like me on the alcohol front, I don't really like it that much. Much rather have a cup of coffee and some chocolate - ohhhh dear I am getting old :(
