If you can get/afford a good one then some can actually appreciate in value I believe - supply and demand.

Not sure whether the number you have in mind would fir this category.

Quite good at partially disguising the fact you haven't got a new car, for a bit, if that concerns you.

Some friends of mine have them.

Two of which are accountants so they must know something. One is quite clever the other his initials and quite sad in a way.

I know another family who have sequenced plates, again which are quite clever. As a PP says helps the police keep track.

As well as the retention fee (tax) mentioned don't you have to pay an extra registration fee(tax) and transfer fee(tax) each time you swap them over.

If you have surplus wonga and it isn't a problem if you can afford to loose it then your choice. As you are MSE perhaps that isn't the case and maybe the heart is beating the brain. Your life, your choice is it worth the possible sacrifice?

I do wonder why people people pay silly money for a plate they need to space illegally to do what they want and pay an extra £80 or so everytime they change cars.

Serious question for those that know where to look, has

    PEN1S been issued?? :o
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I don't know, but a woman I know in Kidderminster has

    PEN51 - and she's called Penny.

But to all those who object to others (like me) having personalised number plates, I can do no more than recommend the number plate that once graced Paul Raymond's (of Raymond's Revue Bar fame) Rolls Royce:

  • If I bought a plate it would have to really mean something. Like J17 LEE but unfortunately it is already taken.

    No, but
PEN15 has, and was reportedly on Linda Lovelaces Rolls Royce for a time.

I bought one for £300 in the 80s (as a potential investment) and it's now "valued" at £5,000. I know I'll get nothing like that if I sell it but I think it was a sensible buy. If I wish to put it on one of my cars I'll do that as well - don't see why that suddenly makes me the world's greatest a***hole.
Why such outrage towards private plates? They're no more "showy" than metallic paint or buying top of the range instead of entry-level,
    Can I help?
