Save your dough, private number plates are just another money making scheme for the government and all the other jokers selling them.
There would be a lot less car crime if everyone was issued with one number plate for life.
Also a lot less hype from the car dealers pushing the new plates every 6 months.0 -
on the other hand- a neighbour had one and kept it for a few years. Then, he needed money as he was going through a divorce. He made a great profit with it. So depends what the plate says and if there would be a market for it.weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
OP if you want it and you can comfortably afford it then go for it...its your choice....
Ive got a private plate and im not ego fuelled or whatever the terms were that were posted earlier...but mine was just a few hundred pounds rather than thousands...
I've had my plate many years and its been transfered several times...I dont plan to sell it...didnt buy it to impress anyone...or to sell for financial gain at a later stage...and it certainly doesnt sit on an expensive car...but I like it and to me thats what matters
In fact I could indeed look at it that I have issued myself with a numberplate for life as 2010 pointed out in an earlier post
as for the point that you will lose a lot of money on it when you come to sell it...well yes you might ...but if you went out and bought a brand new car you could also lose a lot of money on that if you sell quickly too....frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -

Never mind.
you do realise that a lot of private plates don't scream 'look at me' because nobody else knows it's a private plate..0 -
Why not just change your name by deed poll so it matches your current number plate, it'll cost less than £30 proper MSE.
On a serious note, don't worry what some other people think, if you want a private plate then do it for yourself.
As long as its a plate someone else will want if you did have to sell you won't lose much on it.0 -

Although obviously not to every man and his dog.
In my mind, paying extra for a private plate is no worse than paying extra for metallic paint or alloy wheels etc. None serve any purpose other than to satisfy the vanity of the purchaser. Nothing wrong with that.
OP if you can afford it and really want it, buy it.0 -
