Her scones looked burnt underneath! Strange way to display them too, I'd have put the tops on them, not left them open as she did.
Love her to bits though *crush*
TrixieB- but the judges left their half eaten bits of scone teeth marks and all, next to the untouched ones . I have two things to say -work head on- Infection Control! and OS head says- what a waste !!:rotfl::AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Ooh, I haven't seen it, must watch it.
I am sure I won't be bothered about her nail vanish or tying her hair back (do you have to be sterile and plain now before you do anything??)
My OH has massive crush on her for some reason (even he cannot explain it!!), so I am sure he won't mind:-)
You don't have to be if you're going to eat your own stuff but she was making it for others to eat and to judge! Hygiene is vital.;)
I will never buy or eat anything from stallholders who do not look clean. You just don't know! Years ago some friends and I went to a village fete. One of us bought a plate of cakes to take back and eat in her garden.
We all started eating and our hostess (who is a drama queen anyway) jumped up and started gagging (sorry if that's too much info) and waving her arms about. We were all going "yeah, yeah very funny" but it turned out her cake was FULL of hairs. We all then started examining what we had left of ours and the whole lot were the same.
We were just starting to calm down and she said "actually I think they were pubes".:eek::eek: No homemade cakes for me since that day.;)0 -

That is very sad... I am not sure drama queen covers it. You were very unlucky. On the stall and friend.
But really, no one is going to watch a lady who is dressed in white suit, hair tight in a net and is going to bake on industrial scale...
Everything with a bit of balance, you know?
At the end of the day, I doubt mothers baking for their children school stalls take their nail varnish off before they start...0 -
just checked my pottery as thought was similar, i have one cereal bowl and two coffee mugs which are nicholas mosse bought on a holiday in ireland 20 years ago.. then had cash and no kids or committents, and bought pottery each holiday... i saw some similar in laura ashley some years ago (they may have been selling nicholas mosse too though..:rotfl:nov grocery challenge, £.227.69/300, 9/25 nsd: , 7 Cmo, 10 egm.

I am 5ft 7 and 12 stone 5lbs and yes maybe I am a bit overweight but you know what us horsey people really do put in a full day and I do my workouts in the stables, yard and field so if anybody says that I am a bit lardy they can come and put in half a day with me and shifting about 15 kilo sacks of food as well. Yes I can do with losing a bit more and my late mothers girdle wearing days could be revived with me! I enjoy my food and I am not a miserable skinny minnie by a long shot. Yes I would love to have the figure of Cindy Crawford, but in reality it is never going to happen. I just make the most of what I have got!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

I think I was very lucky having my friend warn me or I'd have eaten the whole blinking cake!!
Kirstie is lovely - I'm not saying she isn't and I certainly don't expect to see her in a "white suit, hair tight in a net" as you suggest. But she'd got an apron on so she could just as easily have shoved her hair up out of the way and removed her nail varnish.
She's the one talking about the high standards at these county shows after all.
Most of the people who judge these contests are or have been judges for the WI. (I'm not a member by the way) and they have very high standards of cleanliness, presentation, quality and taste.0 -

Tell me about it! I think the hubbies/partners on here who have a thing about Kirstie are attracted to people like her and Nigella because they are voluptuous and like being in kitchens!;)0 -
I did have a chuckle at the older of the two judges smiling at camera after a mouthful of one of the choc cakes, brown teeth n all!Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!
:money: :money: :money:0 -
I've just finished watching it on iplayer. Thought it was very good and her Caribbean cake did look gorgeous. It did highlight the high standards of our village show though, our WI ladies baking is not to be trifled with ,or scoffed at [tee-hee].0

And yes it is Nicholas Mosse for the bowls as well and you want to see the prices of those. It's enough to knock you over with a feather!!
I had a quick look on ebay, and they are going for £££ on there too. Ah, well... my Mr T bowls will have to stay....0
