Kirstie's Home Made

I believe they said it was the last one but may be wrong.
I was impressed with the pork pie and would like to have a go at that myself. I was not impressed with her hygiene (sorry I'm at it again:o) where she kept that large ring on to squidge up all the sausage meat with her hands. Bleurrrrr!!!!!!! Lord knows what germs would be trapped in that ring.
I just find it bizarre that she goes to all the trouble of adhering to the exacting standards of the competitions yet something as simple as removing her jewellery for a short while is beyond her.
I'm wondering whether the Xmas Kirstie's will be a re-hash of what she did last year.
I did like the funny moments when she was trying not to laugh as she shaped the sausages.:rotfl:0 -
I do agree with you about the ring and the sausages. It was fun though wasn't it, it's not that often you see a presenter being quite so genuine. She's a bit OTT but that's how she is, it doesn't appear contrived; unrestrained giggles and tears too.
She has definitely encouraged me to think 'if she can do it so can I'.
I've made pork pies, several versions. Delia's site has quite a good one, using muffin tins for the moulds (I used silicone). You start them off in those, then take them out to finish cooking. I've made them completely by hand too, they're really quite easy but the flavour combinations, minced or chopped meat, and the all-important jelly are what make them tricky to get just right.
Well worth it for Christmas, people are so impressed if you've made them.
I gathered that was the last of the series but now there will be two Christmas specials, same time each week:)0 -
I'm amazed there wasn't any hair in her prizewinning sausages - tie it back woman!
Looking forward to the Christmas specials - is it me or are they earlier this year? I seem to remember last time it was too late to do half the stuff.February Grocery Challenge - £100.87/£180February Don't Throw Food Away Challenge - £0.60/£1.500 -

Crikey you're brave saying that on here!!:rotfl: After one of her early episodes I mentioned her loose hair and a few people seemed of the opinion that Princess Kirstie can produce food for human consumption but doesn't have to follow hygiene rules like everybody else. I believe the comments are still on here.:D0 -

I remember reading them a while ago! I'm hardly pedantic about it myself but if I was cooking/baking for other people, let alone a competition, I'd be mortified if there was a hair in my food!
I sometimes wonder similar with Masterchef though to be fair, it's not specifically anti-Kirstie!February Grocery Challenge - £100.87/£180February Don't Throw Food Away Challenge - £0.60/£1.500 -
I know what you mean Polkadots ... a few years ago I was reading an article about a fairly famous female cook (name escapes me right now but it deffo wasn't Delia) and she was going on about her recipes, her wonderful dinner parties etc.
I turned over to the pictures of her beautiful kitchen and there SITTING ON THE WORKTOP was a big furry ginger CAT!:eek:0 -
This is the house she used in the first series, not sure if it is the same as the recent series. Friends stayed there and loved it.
