crumblepie it is really easy. I tend to make it in a huge batch as it normally gets divided between several friends or portioned and put in the freezer. You need quite a deep tray, not a swiss roll one. I use a roasting tin lined with baking paper. First put a basic sponge mix in the bottom of the tin, I flavour it with good vanilla, but you can add cinnamon, mixed spice, cardamon etc. Then top it with drained peaches or whatever fruit you want. Raspberries, blueberries, sliced apples and most berries work well, I have used frozen ones in the past. Then top with crumble, basic or with added nuts/oats/spices. Bake at 180C/gas mark 4. It does take quite a while to cook as the fruit adds liquid to the sponge, just keep checking it and cover with foil if the crumble is browning too much. Good served with custard :D

So basically the recipe that daisiegg posted while I was typing that :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I went away for a shower (and in the process, regained some knickers, I'm sure you'll be pleased to know!) and thought it would be in full swing when I returned. Where's all the debauchery?! :)

 yes please to the Baileys. I'm trying to decide which cheesy DVD to put on tonight - Johnny Dep and Orlando Bloom are currently top of the list, I fancy a bit of swashbuckling. But then there's LOTR which I haven't watched in yonks... crikey, Orlando Bloom, elf or pirate? I think pirate personally but he does make a cracking elf too.

  • I have everything for the raspberry squares except the apple and raspberries.... how important is the apple I don't fancy a five mile round trip to the supermarket to get one. I have blackberries.. would that work instead?

    PIRATE PIRATE PIRATE!!

Just watched the most recent one with OH last week, was quite disappointed. NOT the same with good old Orlando. Who, incidentally, I have been lucky enough to meet in the flesh...

Blackberries would work instead of raspberries definitely, and I suppose you could leave the apple out. I don't think it would matter too much!

*pours jpscloud a baileys* I would go with pirates personally, as it has the added bonus of Johnny Depp wearing eye liner ;)

Oh my goodness daisie! I'd literally swoon if I knew how, so instead I'd have to just go red and throw my knickers at him!

I must have missed this - what on earth happened?

Frugal - SDG's generous nature was taken advantage of - the envelope was the happy ending to the tale.

On the chardonnay here - can't stand the name but love the "electric battery" zing you get with it.

Going to have a go at making bagels tomorrow in case anyone needs brunch.

And my phone has died - but have been very MS about getting a new one and have saved enough on a bulk catfood order to pay for it :D

daisiegg - my eyes may be green, but I am not jealous, no, not at all, not a teeny tiny bit......
