Frugal a woman that lives on my street, and who's daughter my sons used to play with, gave me a sob story about her husband being away for the week and her bank card snapping in the ATM. So I lent her the £50 I had in the house so she had food for the kids. I then found out that she was due back in court for sentencing as she had stolen/conned her 84 year old neighbour out of over £8000. I also found that she had tried this with other neighbours and in some cases had gotten money out of them. She kept avoiding me and when I finally managed to ask her for the money she told me that I would get it back on the following wednesday..the day that she was in court!. In the end I had to ask her husband for the money. He knew nothing about it of course, but was nice enough to give me the money back. It was incredibly stressful and upsetting, but all done now thank goodness. DH asked me why I was so upset as I've lent money to friends before with no problems or stress. I told him that it wasn't the money, it was the fact that she sat in my house and lied to me repeatedly. She made me feel stupid and unbalanced and question my own judgement.

*takes a deep breath and pours everyone a triple baileys* Sorry about that, it's still a bit of a sore point.

Now who has David Tennant's phone number? He must have given it someone.

WOW!!! What a b!tch... Her poor husband :( and even worse, the poor neighbour :(:mad::mad:

I hope you will hear about it when karma comes to bite her on the !!! ;)

Oh yes it does CCP. it brings back memories of my not really misspent youth, where I fell for every strange young man going. I also seemed to have a knack for fancying the gay ones, hence my being quite well behaved :rotfl:
Ahhhhhhh Malcolm where are you now and do you still have purple hair and way more make up than I do?

My mother used to wonder who or what I was going to bring home next. Poor mom.
  • Enjoy the party folks, I'm just having a wee glass of port but won't be stopping up late. I was up at 5 this morning and then spent most of the day trawling the shops. But the good news is I've helped mum finish her Christmas shopping! (I know  - it's pretty early, but this is her first Christmas without dad and she was stressing about getting organized!)

Book People have just sent me a 10% off if you order before tomorrow night code (SPOOKY10) so as it's going to take a fiver off my booker/orange prize collections, AND DD no2's Birthday Pressies I'm going to cave in and add to basket. I'll also get a free desk diary I can either use as a pressie or use for the B&B bookings next year and I have enough points for a free book - so will order the slow cooker curry one :D Kate

I'm glad you've caved in and decided to get the bookers: mine arrived last week, I've already demolished the first one (The sisters brothers: very good in a slightly weird way) and have passed it on to my mum to read.

*makes Hester a cup of tea* I haven't played those games in way too long, but I completely agree. I don't scene if I've taken so much as a paracetamol in the last 24 hours. Anyone that mixes drink or drugs and BDSM play is a fool at best and dead at worse.

Sorry, I wandered off there for a moment - I'm watching music videos on a separate tab (well, it beats doing any studying! ;)), including Red Hot Chili Peppers - there's another man who looks good in eye liner. Sigh.

lizzyb - I'd be interested to know how the bagels go - they're something I've always intended to get around to making and may just do so one of these days.

(...sneaks in quietly and heads for the quietest corner of the kitchen)
Having lurked and lurked and lurked since the very first "tough" thread, I though I might as well de-lurk properly, as it's a party, and say "Hi" to everyone. Bolstered by the 2 glasses of Chardonnay I had at home, I have plucked up courage at last but if you don't mind I will just sit here in my corner and watch the goings on, please don't ask me to join in with any shinnanegans..........well, not until I've finished this handful of twiglets and the scrummy Bailey's that someone just thrust into my hand on the way past.
    Cheers!

I definitely agree daisie, POTC is just not the same without Orlando and the last one really was a bit disappointing - I'm going to have another go at watching it now though, maybe it will grow on me. And if not, at least it's an evening in the company of the lovely Johnny Depp and his sexy eyes :D

Edit - Bobbykins, come and sit with me and drool over Johnny! Bring those twiglets over if you would...
