Dont usually post on here but pop on to see how everyone is doing. Shegar sending hugs that you get a lovely peaceful time and that your hubby enjoys it. It was a pleasure by the way x

FTM your gifts sound lovely, we have made a lot of ours too other than that its bargains we have stashed away. Hope your DD gets through ok, bless her and how sensible she is waiting till she is back to full strength.

Hope all who are going through troubles manage a day of peace tomorrow and if not surrounded by loved ones you at least get to speak to them. Hugs Ginny

I can echo those sentiments - Its been an awful year for my family. I lost my Dad in the summer (and several other horrible things happened this year) so this Christmas seems very sad and strange without him... Family are very divided so its just me and the kids this year which, although i'm lucky to have them, its not the same as a big family/friends Christmas.

I'm just not feeling the Christmas Spirit at all, not helped by DDs sneaking downstairs and opening their presents early this morning  but grown up DS will be over at 2 tomorrow and spending the rest of the day with us so that will be lovely.

Lots of love and peace to everybody having a difficult time at the moment :A
  • Merry Christmas to everyone and particular special thoughts and prayers for those who are in need of them ((((HUGS))))

Here's hoping we all find comfort in those around us - real and virtual! - and have a peaceful time over the holiday :A

Happy Christmas and a wonderful 2012 xxxx
  • MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE, MAY THE BLUEBIRD OF HAPPINESS FLY OVER YOUR TURKEY (but not void anything)
    Normal people worry me.
  • Just popping in before I drop to wish you all a Happy, Peace, Joyful and Healing Christmas - with extra special thoughts going to those who need them so badly now.

We actually spent less than I budgeted for this year as my first Christmas Eve out ( film and meal ) in 31 years cost less than expected ( film was booked and paid for in August but we expected the meal to be around £120 and it only came to £66 and that included the tip so very pleased with that....still don't understand why as going by menu should have come to about £117 but we queried it and told it was quite right although the prices they put by each items apart from one were far, far less and nothing to say things would be less and this is an expensive restaurant Oh well not complaining ....so car which was running on fumes as hubby forgot to fill it up yesterday - well he was going to put the £20 we budgeted for it in - got filled right up to brim:) Usually come this time I have run out of money before I have everything, this is all thanks to all the wonderful people on MSE boards and their great advice.

Right better go before I fall asleep at keyboard, got a lot to do tomorrow before son and family visit and they are not even eating here, just hubby and I then popping over to daughters for an hour sometimes later.

Hugs, Love to all and Merry Christmas xxxx

my DH managed a small amount of christmas dinner which was great i had woken at 5am and couldn't sleep so waited for the others to get up and they rose at around 7 am and the fun began with our gorgeous border terrier helping to open every single pressie and then her own so the house was filled with squeaking for about 30 minutes and then i think her jaw got tired we are having a lazy boxing day and then back to normal tomorrow and getting the house cleaned top to bottom for the new year coming in so will be busy as everything gets washed

have a great boxing day everyone and lots of love and hugs to everyone who needs one

Frugal, I understand where you're coming from, I too have had a horrible year and it's still rough. I try and see what I have still got and not what I've lost, although it's hard at times.

I know people never react to bad stuff the way you expect, odd behaviour seems part of the package. So I try to make huge allowances and just run with the flow if you know what I mean.

As an old guy once said to me in his inimitable dry humour fashion ...
"every day above ground is a good 'un " I try to keep that in mind when life and all it's multicoloured $H*t threatens to overwhelm me.:)

Oh that would have annoyed me too. How old are they? Mine were told they could open their stockings but nothing else till they woke us up at a reasonable hour. At 3.30am I heard DS wake DD to open them and then they asked to go downstairs -which we agreed to do at 5am! Later me and DH fell back asleep and Nan rang and was fine. By 11 when I called to pick her up she wasn't but eventually 'came round' only for her to announce she was going home just as the Christmas meal was being served upsetting the kids! Me and kids ate our meal in silence. DH ate his later. Then we had an afternoon nap and woke to find DD had 'broken' her new notepad by password protecting it and forgetting the password!

    And breathe......:D

Anyway nan has told mum that she slept all thru xmas day and a neighbour has mended the notepad!

Can't decide whether to go and hit the shops today for some escapism -currently only be up!

BTW - For anyone wanting to vent- there's a thread running on families board for this purpose. I'm finding it very helpful-lol!
