Normal day to day 'Town' is Cardigan. Big Town shopping is usually Carmarthen.

Hester - Happy Birthday! Hope you luuuurve your Kindle :D

PIC.....I have absolutely forgotten what it was that I was going to say to you.....but imagine what it would be, and pretend I said it :D

    No. Yellow. Ball.

I'm off to the CAB after lunch to get them to help me fill in forms for DLA. I've been refused before ages ago....but I've given up work now (or, rather, work and I have reached a "compromise agreement") because of the erraticness (is that a word?) of my performance and attendance. I have to make them see that I cope at home because everything is written down in my book...it even tells me which days to shower to remind me. I have alarms for taking meds, menu plans, set shopping days, days to do various household chores and LOTS of reminding and support from hubby and children. I appear so "normal" (sorry, horrid word in this context) BECAUSE of this rigidity I impose upon myself, and because of the support etc etc. Any one of those "props" vanishes and I implode like a souffle in a chilly breeze. And all that is when my condition is stable.....when the meds go haywire or cease to work....oh my, it's not pretty.

And I'm planning to make sausage and bacon quiche for tea - first time - fingers crossed!! :D

Hi all :). Belated Happy Birthday HH, hope you had a lovely day? It was my DD's 10th birthday yesterday. I felt bad because we got her 'boring' stuff for her birthday- guide uniform and a duffel coat. She is over the moon with her coat though so it's all good :D. Also got her a little Hello Kitty box of tat stuff (mainly for the box so she can put her hair bits and bobs in it). It still cost £75.50 for everything though. That's the trouble having large children, I find. Mind you, we got her boots last year for her birthday and they are still going strong and still fit her so I just hope they do her until next birthday *insert fingers crossed smiley here*.
Had a minor panic earlier, it's payday so I had to log on to transfer my wages across from one account to another. When I looked at my main acc, there's only £290 something in there  until I realised that my wages haven't been paid in there yet. Even so, it's really low. I am starting to worry lots about finances. We are so very close to repaying our mortgage (18 months to go- yay!) but it costs £1400 per month. Everything else costs lots of money too and we're supposed to have £21k in savings (DH's inheritance) but it's just not there. I reckon we've got £10k possibly £11k in savings accounts. It appears that we are spending more money each month than we have coming in but I can't track it. I have £433.34 on my CC which won't be repaid until the end of the month which is annoying as I haven't used it since the 7th and I thought it would be cleared with this payment. I did have an Egg card but they've transferred to Barclaycard and I won't use them on principle. They robbed me blind when I had no money to lose and I actually lost 6 months wages from those people and their charges because I got paid a few days late. G1ts :(.
Anyway, I digress :o. So, I got my wages, my extra shifts come through in a separate chunk which is good because I can see immediately what is overtime for savings. I only got £305 and thought it was a bit short. I rang the office and they haven't paid my shift from the 4th October. Annoying. But, I will get it on the 22nd December so will get 7 shifts worth of overtime then. That will make a big dent in our holiday savings. Am very worried about being able to work enough extra shifts in order to pay for this though. I am trying to cram them all in now in the winter when I don't want to go out in the evenings rather than in the summer when we enjoy going out for a walk along the prom in the evening. I think I have around another 33 extra shifts to cram in before we go on the 12th August.
It's DS's birthday in 4 weeks and SiL's on the 4th. More money. DS has no idea what he wants so really, we're just buying for the sake of spending which I hate.
Big worries really :( and yet we are so much better off than some others.
Actually, I do get really cheesed off when people say we're lucky for nearly being mortgage free. We're not lucky, we've worked really, really blinking hard to get here. We haven't had loads of foreign holidays (France, 3 times since we had the kids and a UK holiday which was an unrivalled disaster weather wise ). It's less of a choice about holidays, more a sad fact that some selfish people at work book off all of the school holidays which leaves nobody else with a whole week to take anywhere. It should be stopped but no one in authority ever does anything about it.

I have the TD on at the moment and will have for most of the day as it's dank and murky here. I have got 1 load just finished and another 2 to do. I've got to wash the bedding because it hasn't been done for the last 2 weeks due to lack of weather. Just gotta bite the bullet now eh?
Electricity usage is a bit scary this week when I entered it into I-measure. It's going up each week. We are manically going round turning off lights all the time now and sitting in the lamp light in the evening. I hope that will reduce our usage. If I manage to persuade DH to swap seats with me in the evnings we can ditch another lamp as I can use his to see my knitting and he's watching TV or on the play station anyway.

    Right, must crack on!

Oh, by the way, on the subject of birthdays, Valentines day is 40 weeks precisely before the 19th of November. And no, I was actually at the vicars house doing our pre wedding counselling on the evening of Valentines day 2001 so I was not getting down to business :o:D!

Hope everyone has a good day, even under the cloud. If there are more than 3 consecutive days of sunlessness, one is officially authorised to break out the sloe gin, y'know. Hic!

GQ - I have sloe gin (and sloe white rum and boy is that good!) however if I follow that theory I'll have run out well before Christmas!!!:rotfl:Is it permissable to substitute standard gin or a nice glass of pinot grigio?
Quiet day in today after DD's mobility group yesterday, going to take DS to be weighed tomorrow, he was 6 months last week - how has time flown!! - but he's already filling 6-9 month clothes, at least lengthwise - he's a skinny minny. Thursday is my very non-mse day!! Going to the knit and stitch in Harrogate with my mum - will try not to spend too much however it is all very temptng and they do do good bargains at shows! (my excuse!) Out again on Friday at a workshop but that won't cost me anything. On Saturday we're going to a celidah - think I can finally spell that after writing it so often on committee minutes (and getting it wrong on most of them!), I'm making the veggie cheese and onion pie for the supper so that will keep me quiet in the afternoon. Sunday is swimming day and then we're back to the beginning - feel like I hardly have time to draw breath at the moment so going to make the most of today.

    Belated Happy Birthday Hester.
Kidkat - you look after yourself for once and don't try to do too much.
Hug to anyone else that needs them. (Or who just likes a nice hug!)

It looks like it's my turn for the big yellow ball today. It's glorious here - blue cloudless skies and the sun. I walked a couple of miles to the shops earlier, and when I got back I was sweating. I've had the heating on for the odd day since October, but definitely won't be needing it today.

While I was hanging the washing out I noticed that the narcissi are growing - they are already about a foot tall (no flowers yet though)
