  • I too have been done i think - normally savvy with these things - spotted the reviews today thinking it was a little late shipping. i did though Google Checkout so hopefully they dont have my card info and Google will cover me. Spoke to bank, not interested until you opened the communication, wont block further card use in that name until AFTER it's flagged- a joke.
Sent essence an email and got an auto response and mialed Google so will see what comes back..
  • Why not buy from a reputable store? If something normally expensive is really cheap somewhere, that normally is a warning flag in itself. I'm genuinely interested as to why people do this.
  • It is very easy to understand why people are being conned
The site looks really good and though the perfumes are cheaper they are not rock bottom
Everyone knows that there is a huge mark up on perfumes so when a company such as this comes along you assume they have bought in bulk and are selling cheaply
Sadly they are a company with no morals and for some reason it seems they can carry on trading despite the terrible reviews they get
A lesson to all to check and double check
I was just lucky and read the reviews before I parted with my hard earned cash
It just really annoys me because I very nearly ordered !
  • Just wanted to thank you guys!! This store came up on quite a few search engines!! Probably wouldn't have bought from them anyway as the website looks terrible and that always puts me off but i was considering it!!

Certainly saved 1 guy some both!
  • Well, I can't believe I've also been taken for a ride on this one!

Placed order on 5th November, still no goods, chased via email, got standard message saying 'goods will arrive next week'.

Called credit card company tonight and found out they took more money on the transaction, than the actual order was for in the first place. Speaking to credit card company's fraud department tomorrow to see what rights I have.

Anyone had any luck getting their money back?
  • after nearly 4wks finally got my perfume, it was 100% fake, although the bottle was an ok fake the perfume was bright orange, will make a expensive air freshner or fly spray! i picked this company not to save money but they were the only english company selling the perfume i wanted, unfortunately they from seychelles, bulgaria&wakefield makes a change from newyork, paris, london! reported them to my creditcard but ive very little chance of refund, has put me off shopping online.
  • Also worth posting on this site. Interesting how there's some 5 star reviews with some quite poor 'english' grammar??
    I wonder who wrote them?

Reviewcentre.com (sorry I couldn't post link, due to being a new user)

Now 30 days, still no product, have emailed asking for refund. Now putting it in the hands of the credit card company.
  • I myself got caught aout by this scam luckily i used googls payment gateway so contacted google wallet and they have refunded the full payment to my CC and apparently have blocked essence store from using google wallet totaly from last night.
  • Hi hsv_gaz01,

I've been caught out too. Used Google Wallet, so hope I can get my money back from them like you. Can you give me the phone number you used to get in touch with Google, please?

    John
  • I too feel like I've been conned, sure I followed up a link from amazon to get to essence store or maybe it was just a quick google search. but the site looks very legit and with google checkout I thought I couldnt go wrong!

placed order and paid with credit card on 14/11/11
got e-mail advising order shipped 22/11/11
Here I am on the 9/12/11 and nothing, just e-mailed them and got an automated reply, tried the number and got no answer.

Any help appreciated like how to contact google checkout and try and get a refund.
Also paid via credit card so I'm hoping that will have some effect.

luckily I work next to trading standards at my local council so I'll be getting some advice soon!

just wondering if john and hsv_gaz have any advice?

    THANKS! Chris.
