Adding RAM ?

 OP took seven months to spend £30.
:rotfl:
On the other hand, maybe just tweak a few services to reduce memory load!
I have a customer who uses me for repairs all the time, then when he wants a new machine to play his flight sim games, goes to PCWorld without even asking me to quote, then rings me up and asks why it doesn't work. Last time, he spent 900 and was given a laptop without a dedicated graphics card even though the machine is purely to play FSX. I told him to take it back, which he did, furiously demanding a proper games PC.
He came back with a 900 quid HP machine with a graphics card that could be outdone by a pocket calculator. Two years later, he's finally saved up enough money to have me fit a graphics card..at which point I told him his power supply was too weak to handle the card. If he'd spent 650 quid with me at the time, he'd have a machine that does everything he needs, instead of which he has now spent about 1300. Definitely not a moneysavingexpert0 -

Have you installed the latest Driver for the Graphics card?0

The laptop is 4 years old and I bought it as I was told it would be good for my son and his game playing. Bearing in mind - 4 years ago he was only 8. I think an XPS is quite an expensive toy for an 8 year old.
Anyway, I will get him a tower in the next couple of months - birthday is on it's way.
In the meantime - I do think he has lots of stuff running in start up which probably slows things down a bit. Also, I can buy him another graphic card if that will improve things till he gets a new tower.0 -

Thanks Closed.
I do think a cleanup would help but, when I said I'm incredibly busy - I am and this looks time consuming to me. I do have time tomorrow, so I will get stuck in and see what I can do on the cleanup. However, I know I don't know how to do a hijack this.
My son is forever down loading stuff from the internet, which automatically loads itself to startup as soon as you switch on - so I know this isn't having a good affect.0 -
son can do it,
hijackthis takes 30 seconds, instructions are in the sticky, but it's self explanatory, scan, save log, paste it into a thread.
exe here

virus scans can be left running.!!

Was a joke. But you can spend the £600 if you're not too busy.
Seriously though, follow closed's clean up instructions before we update the Driver.0
