Adding RAM ?

Hi, can anyone tell me how easy it is to add ram to a laptop? My son has a dell xps M1330 and wants to increase his RAM so he can have better performance on his games and when surfing.

Where do I buy the RAM, and how do I install it?

Grateful for some help.
Many thanks
Terri

goto crucial.co.uk and they will tell you what memory you need. you can then shop around for the memory. ebuyer is usually very competitive on price and delivery is very fast. installing memory on a laptop is usually just a case of turning upside down, opening a flap and installing

There's video guides on YouTube for installing memory on Dell laptops - search for Dell or your model number.

  • Thanks Closed. We did the cleanup before, but it made only a little bit of difference. I think my son only has 1 GB of RAM on his laptop.

    7 months later........

I'm finally going to get my poor son this extra RAM he so desparately needs. God I'm a rotten mum at times!

OK - so his XPS only takes a maximum of 4gb of Ram. 2gb in each slot. How do I tell how much Ram he has at the moment?

The manual says the lowest his laptop is is 1gb. If that is the case, I could buy him 2 x 2gb.

Grateful for an answer so I can get it ordered today before he abandons me.

    Many thanks
