Yesterday was quite spendy but fun nevertheless. I went to Aldi to spend £30 to get £5 off with a coupon from the paper, but ended up spending £32 after the coupon was used :rotfl: I still need to go to Morrisons today to buy the rest of the things I didn't quite manage in Aldi.
I met Souk for a lovely lunch (and some even nicer wine, which is why I didn't make it to Morrisons yesterday, haha!) and a chat then we hit the heady heights of Poundland for some bargain shopping
The day finished off with my best friend coming over to eat chocolate and watch X Factor, which was fab. I had better run now - I'm meant to be meeting her sometime in the next hour and am not quite dressed yet.....

Sounds like a fab weekend! Chocolate + X Factor + best friend sounds like a perfect Saturday night! I had an offer to go out last night but passed for the opportunity to watch Harry dance with his shirt undone (ooh!) on Strictly and list a load of things on ebay - seems we all know how to have a good time on here :rotfl:0

Morning all
Just realised that my own thread had fallen off the front page of my subscriptions which is very bad indeed. Must try harder
This update is being done on my phone, so any spelling mistakes will be sorted later on. Predictive text is not my friend...!
MSE-wise I've been pretty good. I did spend around £62 on food this weekend, but the food cupboards are well stocked and the freezer is looking full too so I'm not too concerned. I'm doing my usual top up shop tonight and should spend less than a fiver in total as I've been quite good at planning meals etc this week.
Unexpected spend of the week has come courtesy of Cat #2 who has had the squits for a couple of days. One consultation later and a bill of £62 and he's on special food for a week. Am fully expecting gold-plated p00 for that price
Not a lot else to report at the moment. Update with money news soon...0 -
Promised money post:
PAD/Spends - £82
Entertainment - £50
Groceries - £137.64
Christmas - £84.09
Savings - £1531.03 (ISA)
Savings - £153.16 (craft workshop + travel expenses for 2012)
When my mortgage payment is taken then my mortgage will also be under £42,500 which is quite a nice number. I look forward to the day that my loan is repaid and I can start attacking the mortgage properly!
I've cashed in a work share scheme this morning which I've been saving monthly for. That will be £760 coming to me soon. I'm going to treat myself with some of it (Souk, you're helping me buy clothes!!) and the rest will be added to savings/loan.
Nowt else to report so I had better go back to work I suppose!

I wanted to keep the monthly payments affordable in case of a rise in mortgage rates, knowing that I've been PADding for long enough that I would be paying at least half the monthly payment in additional payments each month anyway.
There's around £4800 outstanding (!!!) but I have £1500 in savings already because I wanted to have a cushion of money, rightly or wrongly, in case of emergencies. I have this other £700 coming soon too, so will put at least half of that to the loan as well. I'm just going to keep chipping away at it!
Today's completely unnecessary purchases from the Amazon sale are Toy Story 1-3 on DVD for £4 (used a voucher to take the price that low!) and a Lovefilm six month membership for £17.50 which is for DVD copies and unlimited steaming :j I used my entertainment budget for the month to pay for that one though so the PAD account is relatively unscathed

I think you're quite right to have a savings buffer. I've lived without savings for a while and it's scary, particularly as I don't have a credit card to fall back on (and don't want one). It's not feasible to get through life without something unexpected. I think having children or animals compounds the likelihood of 'unexpecteds' tooOne step at a time0
