    Take a look at this:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-K53SC-SX017V-Notebook-i5-2410M-2-30GHz/dp/B005N6ZFSS/ref=sr_1_10?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1320775504&sr=1-10

Still pricey at more than five hundred pounds, but Amazon claim that the saving is more than 99 per cent! In other words, the original price was almost one hundred and five thousand pounds (the cost of a half-decent flat)! Surely some mistake? Any thoughts on whether this would be a good machine, even at this price?

Think that that is the same as THIS ONE at ebuyer? Which is only £488.88 brand new!

In response to the person who PM'd me, it is probably worth checking the Amazon Warehouse Deals at around 5-6pm each day, because this seems to be when they add new items, rather than overnight.

I haven't found any new ones to post for the last few days....maybe tonight will be the night!

  • Are these Amazon warehouse deals customer returns or are they second hand? I'm looking for a new laptop and I'm quite taken with the idea of getting a higher spec refurbished one but I don't really know what I'm looking for and what condition these Amazon ones are in

In any case, better value after-market warranty insurance can be bought online.

Hi withabix, I've been watching for awhile hoping to pick up a good deal and see they have a few more of these available so keen to pick one up...you mention the aftermarket warranties above available online but I've looked about and not seen anything specific...any suggestions and any idea how much we're looking at just for technical warranty?

    Many thanks!

p.s. some comments on the reviews about the processor and graphics not being amazing but I'm guessing for basic websurfing etc it'll be good/great?

I have just returned by sony Vaio (bought as new) for a full refund. It had something wrong with it, smelt of burning and was very slow, plus the screen kept only displaying half a page. All credit to amazon tho as a refund was offered.

Always a good idea to test, so that you can get the full refund from Amazon without any problems.

There will be some faulty ones amongst these, probably because people who return them don't always state the reason.

So far we've bought five for various family members. Only one was faulty (keyboard fault) and the rest were spot on.

I've got a £200 HP DV7 from post #73 above to collect from parcel carrier this evening - hopefully that will be a good 'un!!
