Mrs 3Dogs, what a fitting tribute to Mr 3Dogs, using his avvi as yours.

Miss him and cannot imagine how much you are missing him xxxxxx

Yes, I have switched to his avatar, thanks for noticing ...... my avi doggie has stopped wandering round and round looking like he wanted out for a wee, and I have replaced him with Alan's lollopping dog :D

    Dear :A Susan :A ,
I am so very sorry for your loss of your beloved Alan. Many times i've written you a message and then deleted it as this is all so very close to home for me and i wanted to write something positive to you. Unfortunately i have lost 2 close family members and a childhood friend since Christmas to this horrid illness, the most recent being 3 weeks ago. People tell me that time is a healer it's too soon for me to say that i agree but i will say first hand that grief will take as long or as short a time as it needs and for each of us it is a personal journey. There is no right or wrong and i too think Alan would be smiling at the fact that you popped into Tescos on the way home and even managed to pick up a whoopsie. :)

I hope the light from the candles, the love and devotion which you and Alan shared and all the beautiful messages of support on here can carry you through and light the days ahead.
I know it will not be easy having been so busy until now selflessly looking after Alan, but now is the time to allow your family and friends to look after you and to wrap you in their blanket of love.
My sincerest and most heartfelt condolences
    :A:A:A
    GC xxx

Sorry that you have had to go through this yourself, and 3 times so close together, so it must be raw in your mind, and heart. Thinking of you too hun :A

    Hi Susan

Hope that you are spending time with your brother just now. He'll be able to help you and support you through the days leading up to Alans send off. Not an easy task I know, but at least you and Alan did manage to talk this matter through so that will no doubt be a great help.

For some reason when I heard the news my heart and mind went to my favourite place. Collingwood memorial Tynemouth. I always visit there on my first day home. Why I go there I do not know. I sit and look out over the tyne and get so choked up and have a cry, say a prayer and think of my late dad :A

My next visit is August 13th I'll go through the same motions but this time there will be 2 prayers said, one for dad and one for Alan :A

Tynemouth Front Street is a special place for us as it is where we met and spent a lot of time so I will think of you at Collingwood Memorial next month hun and say two prayers myself :A

My brother & I had to drive to Huntingdon yesterday to register Alan's death as no slots available at Wisbech or March as they are only part-time offices. It was difficult to read the certificate once she had printed it but at least that is done now. We then came straight back over to Wisbech to the Funeral Directors to sort out all the arrangements. I found that the hardest part - too many questions I had to make decisions on - but we got it sorted. I just have to ok the press notice she has emailed over to me, email her the photo I have chosen for the front of the service notes, and drop off some clothes for him. I found picking the photo of him very easy - it's the one of him in his dinner suit looking very happy on our Royal Scotsman trip a couple of years ago - and I am taking his Reg Vardy Sunderland shirt in with some tracksuit-type trousers :D

This morning I drove my brother over to P'boro for his lunchtime train back to Newcastle. We spent yesterday checking road and train disruptions after we heard the flood alerts. It was really heavy rain as we drove to Huntingdon and as we walked round until time for appointment, but we went into the Cromwell Museum and by the time we came out after a good look around in there, it had sstopped raining. And it was a lovely sunny afternoon after that, but there is still flooding about various areas. Luckily, the flooding that affected the East Coast line from P'boro up to Doncaster last night, has subsided and it looked like his journey home would be ok. Mind you, my Sis said her garden was flooding again last night

On my way back from dropping my brother off, I called into our local pub/inn and booked a room for after the crem ceremony with a buffet. It is so hard trying to guess how many to cater for and for the printing of the service notes too  As well as family, there are mates from the car boot/market and a lot of friends from Slimming W0rld as so many of the members owe their weight loss to his encouragement, plus at least 2 consultants will be coming, possibly 3. That is my biggest headache at the moment - numbers  But I am better wwith something to occupy my mind

I had that problem, had to go around other bits of MSE and come back and then it let me quote you.

maybe I broke it with the pics :(

I love the pic of Alan in his suit at the Royal Scotsman. I paid a tribute to him on the Make £10 a day thread, but I think I called it the Flying Scotsman! :o after all, that is where I met you both.

And not long now to our birthday either is it? Mind you, St Swithin's can't be blamed for all the rain we've had - it will probably be the only day it doesn't rain :rotfl:

In the back of my mind, I set several targets for Alan still being around for. Our anniversary in May, getting up North to see his family, my birthday 15th July, the Olympics, his birthday in November ......... but he isn't going to be around for my birthday :( Still, I will have Kit and the boys around me and I know they will do all they can to make it special :D

I totally understand why you can't make it up here for Friday hun but will see you soon, I promise :j
