Not a lot done today. Alan has spent most of the day in bed asleep as still recovering from the travelling yesterday, and has little appetite today. He did fancy pie and peas for tea though so, before picking up the dogs, I called to pick some up and we both enjoyed them

The doggies are home from borstal after I paid the £182 to bail them out   Manic in our house as they ran around barking but they have settled now to sleep it off. Lovely to have them home again when they are not barking ;)

I am hoping that Alan is ok in the morning to go to the car boot as usual, and then to have a browse around the auction hall

Yes, the Derbyshire meet :j  :j

We got up at 7.30 to go to the car boot this morning but Alan didn't feel well at all. He ate his breakfast cereal but then had to go back to bed. He just felt unwell and had a pain too. I checked him about an hour ago and he said he felt a bit better after a sleep but was staying in bed a while longer

It was cloudy but OK when we got up but then it went really dark and the rain came. Just drizzly stuff now - miserable weather

Alan felt well enough at 1pm to get up and we went down to the car boot cafe for a sarnie, cuppa and read of the papers. We then popped to the auction for a look around but he was struggling so we didn't stay long and he went straight to bed when we got back home ............... and still there, sound asleep

We put our new mattress on the bed for the first time last night. It's a Silentnight full memory foam one and we had to open it up and leave it for at least 24 hours to let it reach normal size and the chemical smell to lift. I said to Mr 3Dogs earlier that I couldn't remember shouting out 'oouch my hip' and having to turn again to get comfy and he said that I hadn't moved all night. I feel like I have had a proper sleep for the first time in ages as my arthritis and sciatica regularly wakes me up. We had a good mattress but was now 10 years old so had to be changed, but we've had a memory foam topper for several years now which has been good, but with the mattress going under it, we needed to change things. I can highly recommend these mattresses if you have pain during the night :j

Anyway, Alan did have a good night's sleep but still had pain around his right side so I have upped his codeine from 1 x 3 times daily to 2 x 3 times daily as prescription does say 1 or 2, and when he went back to bed about 1.30pm he said the pain had eased :D We have several people to contact if we need advice or extra pain relief - District Nurse, GP, Macmillan Nurses, Colorectal Doc/Nurses, Palliative Doc/Nurses, Stoma Nurse ..................... spoilt for choice but it actually makes it hard to choose which one to contact  District Nurse rang when we got back end of last week and is calling in to see Alan during next week. I have to call surgery to let them know we are back and GP said he would call in to see him about the pain. As it's such a long weekend, I'll wait to see how he gets on with the extra codeine and if ok, will just wait for District Nurse/GP to see him
