Dad has had amazing car from the doctors and chemo nurses. The social care team have been a disaster, turned up at the house 2 days after initial diagnosis, sat 2inches in front of Dad's face and said in a very slow droning voice, "where would you like to die?" they were asked to leave and not return.

Refused to claim anything as mum reckons she has always cooked and cleaned for dad, so no difference now. The only thing they have claimed is a blue badge for the car. We haven't crossed the line between "there is no cure only treatment to contain things" and "terminal", so making any claims would involve long forms and I don't think they would do that. Financially they are of the generation that won't discuss money with their children, so I can only assume that they have things sorted.

Dad's not had any operation only chemo (and 2 weeks ago SIRT rradio), so on good days you wouldn't know he'd been I'll.

Anyway it's a sunny day, so plan on relaxing on the hammock in the garden. I tried to do too much yesterday and I've now got pain again around my op scar, so taking it easy today.

Hi everyone, has anyone heard from Susan, am a bit worried as she usually posts everyday, hope all is well with them both.

Thanks Boult will pop to l*dl tommorrow and check out the wine.

Silvercar Mum may have always looked after Dad but they have probably both paid into the 'system' for many years too, so should claim anything that will make their lives easier. You too must take it easy after your op, the body takes a while to heal.

    Take care all

Hiya guys - I'm back :j :j We moved from my sister's house to my niece's on Friday afternoon when my sis came back from her hols, and I haven't been able to get online till now :(

We drove up to meet my Sister and BiL at Newcastle Airport lunchtime Friday and she was so surprised to see us ...... and delighted too :j :j So we had a good natter about her hols when we got back to her's. Alan was fine and enjoyed the natter too. After a couple of hours I got our things together and they helped to put them in the car, and we drove round the corner to my niece's house to stay there, to mind the house and look after their cat. Alan went straight to bed once we got round there and I got out gear out and sorted, then picked my sister up for us to go see Mam as sis was eager to see her after 3 weeks. Mam was good and we had a nice visit, though it was hard to get Mam to identify me and Susan and Sis as Anne ;)

We planned on seeing Alan's family on Saturday but didn't get out anywhere as Alan was too exhausted and feeling the heat too. My sis visited Mam at lunchtime and I went teatime, picking up a couple of pizzas on the way home. My sis came round in evening for an hour and we had a good laugh, and she took half a pizza home for their supper

So, Alan planned on ringing his Dad and rest of the family to arrange visits today, but was shattered again and had the pain across his wound, so stayed in bed. My Sis had visited Mam at lunchtime and said that nurse had told her to 'just use inhaler on Mam as they'd forgotten to order ampules for the nebuliser' which she was less than happy about, but 'luckily' we had stashed a few ampules over a few months as this had happened before plus we sometimes give Mam double if her chest is bad ;) so sis gave her one of these and I went down at teatime and used another, leaving 3 spare. Hoping they get supplies in tomorroww as Mam can't do without these, and struggles to get sufficient meds from any inhaler

I had left my mobile at home as Alan was up and ok, so I'd said for his to ring family to sort out seeing them, and when I got back he had spoken to them all. We went down to his eldest son's at 7.30pm for an hour tonight and sat in the garden chatting to him and his lovely partner which was lovely. His son is not at all well himself as was diagnosed with Addisons disease last year and needs to carry jabs with him in case of emergency to keep adrenalin levels steady

Tomorrow, we are going to see his youngest son and his wife, then take son to Alan's Dad's house to see Dad and Sister, plus his brother and wwife are coming over there to see him too, so it will be a right good family get-together

So, although Alan is still weak and too tired to do much at times, we are getting out and doing what we want and need to do :j
