Just passing through. Sitting here listening to Richard Spendlove. He has a nice soothing voice. Have been lurking all week. Nice to see things are going well 3Dogs.

Realized it was a year ago last weekend since I had my cataract op. Is it me, or does time simply fly by.
Must get my blog back up to speed.

    We're back :j :j after a lovely long weekend with Kit, Steve & Andy :j :j

Alan drove there and back, though he was tired afterwards. He said he wants to drive now while he still can as he won't be able too later, when in pain and on stronger meds :( First night was a nightmare, with the stoma bag leaking 4 times through the night  After the first leak, Alan wouldn't sleep under the covers, so he spent the nights lying on top of the bed in his pj's and dressing gown :( We also worried that we may not have brought enough supplies with us if this continued but we did manage with some to spare as he only had 2 more unplanned bag changes ;) It did frighten Alan as this was the first time away from home and, after the first night, he almost wanted to go back home :( but we persevered and it was ok

We went to Gunwharf Quay with Steve on Saturday, then down to Southsea in the evening with Kit, Steve and Andy for a walk. On Sunday, we Steve and Andy took us to Southampton West Quay shopping, and then we all went for another walk at Southsea along the promenade. On Monday we went to the Royal Marine's Museum with Steve and Andy and then for lunch in Southsea. It was damp in the evening and when we went down Southsea front, we all sat in the car while Kit had a walk and a skip along the promenade :rotfl: :rotfl:

The weather was far from perfect but it was good enough for us to get out when we wanted, and of course the company was fantastic. Alan managed to get about on his crutches when we were out, but needed lots of naps to recover

All in all, we had a lovely time and it was great to get away, doing things

We got back about 5pm tonight and Alan went straight to bed while I unloaded the car and got some washing done, but is up now watching the footie on the tv

So pleased you had a lovely weekend.

Don't be put off traveling though, I had a similar experience a couple of years ago when I went to visit my brother as he was in hospital. I ended up having to cadge supplies from the nurses on the ward to get through the weekend. (was the cancer ward at St Thomas' - he had a tumor on his gullet, the family joke is that we have one good alimentary canal between us :D) It was a nightmare. I went to Florida for a week a few months after my original surgery and didn't have any problems at all.

Glad Alan is driving, that'll make a huge difference to how he feels.

Thanks for posting that JayJay :D I know Alan is warey but is pleased when he can add things to his list of things he has managed to do. Small achievements to be ticked off his list like first time using his crutches or walker, first time using the disabled toilet at the car boot to empty his bag, first time driving van, first long drive, first time sleeping away from home, first time using disabled toilet in pub to empty bag, ........... with more to come ;) Once he's done these things for the first time, they hold no fear to him :D

Evening guys :D We got a call late morning to say a mate was going to clear out all Alan's stuff from the units and get them into the auction, so we went down there to check everything we needed was out. He loaded up his truck and will take it to the auction rooms in the morning and then come back and load up the vinyl records and anything else and get them to the auction too. he will also clear out the old stock/rubbish packed inbetween the units and then the guy opposite can take over the 2 units this weekend and the market manager will be able to relet the single unit he will be vacating

So we can forget about all the stuff down there - one less thing to worry about :D We still don't know how much we owe the market manager for rent but will have to sort that out with him this weekend

Anyway, we picked the doggies up from the kennels and they had been good, but were very pleased to see us, and are asleep right now on the sofa - home comforts eh? ;);)

Forgot to say, my Carers Allowance came through. The letter was there when we got back yesterday, saying underlying entitlement so I rang CAB and made appointment for 1pm next Tuesday to see Una to sort out Alan's Pension Credit and then we will know what our income is finally going to be. We will then have to put all these details in the the council to finalise HB/CTB also

We had originally planned to go up North this weekend to see family for a week or so, but have delayed that till late next week. I have booked Bess into grooming for the 'full works' on Monday and then we have CAB on Tuesday. Alan needs a rest after this weekend, so we will probably go up on Friday 18th and stay about 10 days. That way we will see my neice and family before they go on holiday on 20th and then my Sister and BiL when they come back later that week :j

Hi MollyMiss - nice to hear from you again :D Thanks for your kind words and sorry to hear about your sister :( The car is making a massive difference as we can now just go anywhere we want without wondering if the van will break down  and it is so much more comfortable :D

We went down to the car boot yard about 2 pm and just had a cooked breakfast, cuppa and read of the newspapers. The guy emptying the units had been and gone, but we didn't check the units to see if they were empty. We popped down to the auction from there and the stuff he took yesterday was there but the porters said that mate had said he would be bringing more on Mon/Tuesday, so I guess that's the records

We drove home and somehow managed to get the leather sofa bed out of the house and into the van  . alan wwent for a lie down as he was ker-nackered and I took the sofa down to the auction where the porters unloaded it. At least that is now out of the house and we have a normal sitting room again :D:D

It had been ok weather-wise but started to rain just before we loaded the sofa  but it wasn't too heavy so was ok. When I got back from the auction, it had stopped raining, so I took the dogs out for a long walk and then brought Mitzy round from next door as neighbour is away until next Wednesday. Just as I got her in our house, the rain started again - lucky me as it has been raining on and off all evening :p

    Hope everyone is ok :D

    Hi 3Dogs

You sound busy & good to hear that you both enjoyed your trip last weekend.

The car sounds like its making a big difference which is great and you can get out & about easily.

All is OK here except work is getting me down...I know I need to look elsewhere as its getting so complicated with all the latest technology...I feel like I`m too old for it all and struggling to keep up. Tesco checkout looks ever so appealing right now...

Anyway take care & say hi to Alan...have a great weekend.

    xx
