Wet and getting very very windy here Beanie  If it stays like this, there wont be much at the car boot tomorrow, just the inside market stalls, but we shall still go down :D

Not been out today, except for walking the dogs duing a break in the rain. Alan been watching footie all day. Exciting stuff as season nears it's end :D:D We did get the other armchair from the van into the house so both using them now and they are very comfy, with good support. I put some boxes of stuff in the van for throwing out and some to take down for Stuart at car boot, plus Alan's upright chair and footstoll which will have to go too as we have new sofa bed coming tomorrow afternoon :j

I have been searching the house for the MOT for the van but still not found it and need it to get the free disabled road tax on Monday :( Alan got the van MOT'd last November when I was up at Mam's so I am blaming him for losing it ;) We do know the date it was done as it was on Alan's birthday so could go and get a duplicate if necessary but it's a bit of a drive to the garage it was done at :(

You need to say a rhyme to the patron saint of lost things,

the fairy who looks after lost things and think Boult has a rhyme too?

it has worked for others, and they have found their lost items.

It never worked for me :( never got my engagement ring back.

Mice   We still get them in too  I think it was on the Tesco~Gone thread someone said put peppermint oil on all gaps mice can use and it keeps they out as they hate mint. I bought the oil at health shop but not got round to using it yet :o typical of me :o:o but worth a try :p

yes, someone told me to put peppermint on a rag and stuff it down the hole they are coming from, it will deter them.

The problem I have is I did this with the hole I found it coming from, then blocked it, it is the other holes, they are not small! They are gaps or great big holes where the LL has had pipes drilled in and rather than putting floorboards around the pipes, they have left a hole and tried to cover with carpet. There is a massive hole in the floor behind the fridge, not sure how effective it would be.

I even thought of throwing down mouse poison but worried they would die under the house... the smell!

I watched a program a few year's back to do with pest controle the thing to do with the hole's is to put wire wool in them, apparently it cut's the mice/rat's mouth when they try to chew through it, so have you got any spare brillo's to bung in the hole's?

When do you get the new car?
Is it worth the hassle of taxing the van for just a few days?

You can drive van tomorrow and do you not get a few days grace by which time you will have the new car?

You don't officially get the 14 days grace that people think. Now, with SORNs, if you don't tax on time, you have to declare a SORN. If you are stopped for any reason in the new month, you can't say you are going to tax it and then go an SORN it. I would risk it, but Alan won't ;)

Will have to talk to Alan about it again in the morning ;)

Weather has been atrocious overnight and today - heavy rain lashing down and strong winds which had things blowing all over the place during the night and this morning

We went out at 10am to call at L!dl for the cheap chicken and 99p strawberries :D and then over to the car boot. Of course there weren't any stalls outside, car booters or traders except the poor Meat Lorry. Inside, the market was as normal but there were few people about :( After a wander round inside, we had a cuppa and bacon/egg sarnie, and a free read of the Sunday papers ;) Straight home afterwards though and weather still very bad

Our new sofa bed was delivered at 1pm and luckily the rain had stopped by then - sofa is just right in the room with the two new armchairs we brought home this week. Mind you it is rather crowded in our sitting room as the 3-seater leather sofa bed is still in there until we get it out to the auction, hopefully tomorrow. Mind you, the dogs are happy as they have 2 sofas to choose from. Oddly enought they prefer the leather one ..... could be that it is in front of the radiator by the window. Not only can they see clearly out of the window to bark at people, they can curl up along the back all cosy and warm ;)

The sun actually came out later in the afternoon and I got the dogs out for their walk about 6pm when it was quite nice out there. The wind has now gone completely too :j

We have both been shattered today, as doing too much, but once the leather sofa is out, that is all the heavy stuff done for now :D
