That's what I said to the lady on the phone but she said I'd have to sort that out with the nurses. Anyway, community nurse eventually came at 4.35pm, only takes 5/10 mins so she was gone by 4.45pm. She said she would mark his notes for an afternoon visit tomorrow as we are going to the auction in the morning, and on Thursday I am to remind them we need a morning visit as we are seeing the Oncologist at 2.30pm
Alan wasn't happy with his day wasted but I made him a big bacon sarnie, and he has footie to look forward to tonight - Sunderland v Everton in FA Cup QF Replay :j :j and it's on ITVMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Beautiful here in yorkshire! Had to spend 3hrs at Nicks treatment but still lovely when we escaped at 4!
Thinking of you for the Oncology appointment on Friday 3dogs, I am definitely in the pro-chemo camp. Nick is always so much better 'on treatment ' than off it.
As I have said before don't be scared when they go through all the side effects, (must admit when I first heard them all I ran out in tears, couldn't bear the thought of Nick going through all that) but they don't get them all. If Alan has the same first chemo as Nick Oxy/Cap his worst symptom was numb cold feet and an intolerance to touching cold things, we just bought thermal socks and had a pair of gloves by the fridge! They give you stuff to counteract sickness and diarrohea if he gets it, Nick never really did. Not trying to sway Alans decision but its worth seeing how he feels on chemo.
Hard times ahead but nowhere near as bad as you imagine, trust me.
Take care and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!

I also do flower's, but the back is mainly fruitbush's and tree's, with everything else in pot's so most of is low maintince once it's potted up, just need to remember to put swell gel in so I only have to water hanging basket's every other day and the tom's once a day. Thanks for all that info, and support, ML - as for the intolerance to touching cold things, I'll have to keep my cold hands and feet away from him then  :eek:I think that Alan is leaning towards having the chemo now. The thought of the cancer feeding on the abcess is pushing him that way, I think, but we will listen to what the oncologist says on Friday before he makes his decision
We did and I hope you did too hun :A :A

As Alan says, they do have a lot to see to, but it was so frustrating not being able to get him out of the house for an hour as planned. It's just that they came at 11.30am'ish every time until they missed him yesterday and had to come later, and then being so late todayAt least we have learnt a lesson, and will tell them the day before if the timing matters, i.e. appointments, etc
Sunderland have just been well beaten by Everton in the FA Cup Quarter-Final but they played terrible, so Everton deserved the win, much the better team on the day. Alan is off to bed now after watching the matchMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Hiya guys - sorry I didn't post last night ..... but I was sound asleep
We had got up early and went to auction for the start at 9.30 am and managed to get the two items I was after which were early on in the sale, so went to the snack wagon for a cuppa. Alan stood outside talking to friends and I went back inside to talk to another friend, but within minutes Alan had come inside saying he felt quite unwell and couldn't even drink his coffee, so we left straight away. Thinking that it was the heat as well as the fact we hadn't had anything to eat before leaving the house, we drove round to the car boot cafe and had a bacon & egg sarnie and cuppa each, and sat reading the papers, after which he felt much better
We then drove home and he went to bed for a nap. Then my disabled neighbour rang and asked if I could take her to the shops as she wanted to buy a folding walker for when going to her sister's funeral on Monday, plus pop over to her mothers, so Alan got up, as we were waiting for the District Nurse having asked them to come in the afternoon as we would be out in the morning, and I took her out. We also called at Asda so we were out about 3 hours, and the nurse had been when I got back, though she said she hadn't got the message and had called to the house in the morning too   She also said that, if Alan is getting out and about now, he could have his dressing changed at his GP surgery to save them having to come to the house as they had so many people to see. After considering this, I am not happy at their 'suggestion' as our surgery is in an old Georgian building and Alan wouldn't be able to manageWe can't park in the rear disabled car park, though this does have ramp/flat entrance, as we haven't got a Blue Badge, yet, and there are steps up into the building from the front with limited parking outside, and inside there are several steps down to the nurses station. Anyway, for the time being, we shall still expect the Nurses to come to the house to see to him
Anyway, after having out tea, I was almost falling asleep so went for a 'nap' at 6.30pm expecting to get back up about 8pm, but when Alan came to bed at 7.30pm, I was sound out, just murmering to him, so he let me sleep and I didn't wake until 12.30 am, when I got up for an hour or so, then went back to bed, waking at 9am the next morning. Boy, did I need that sleep
Today, we got up to watch the cricket from Sri Lanka, at about 9 am, the District Nurse came at 9.30am and then the Occupational Therapist came at 11.30am. She brought a walker for him but, on second thoughts, decided that he may do better with crutches, so she is dropping some in to him first thing tomorrow morning. She is also seeing about a small step to help him get into the step-in shower, a grab-rail next to the toilet, 2 grab-rails in the shower as well as a replacement shower seat as the one in there is rusty and 'manky'
After she left, Alan got ready and we just went down to the car boot cafe for lunch and a read of the papers, but Alan felt unwell again so we came straight home again after eating. He thinks it is the sun/heat that is making him feel ill when he is out as it is quite cool in our house most of the day so he is not used to the heat at the moment. Anyway, he has been ok since we got back
Tomorrow, we have his oncology appointment at 2.30pm at Kings Lynn to talk about possible treatment and what benefit he might get from it, and on Monday, he has his CT Chest Scan. Also, today, his appointment arrived for him to see his consulant at Kings Lynn on 24th April
Hope everyone is okMr 3Dogs 3-7-12
