Hi 3dogs.
It sounds like Alan is doing really well considering its still such early days, Very Well Done to both of you!! Not being scared of it is a plus and non-leaking bags is a real bonus!
Nicks had a bit of a bad week with the compacted poo causing lots of pain, its easing now and he's starting to eat again and was well enough for his treatment this week so fingers crossed for some decent sleep!
Its strange how something that used to be a bind - thinking of what to do for tea every night becomes a real pleasure when they eat!!
Don't be letting him off his chores just yet! 2 years 3months in and I still make Nick do his grass cutting duty!!
Keep caring for him the way you are, your'e doing a grand job.
Spoiling us tonight! I got Jersey Royal new potatoes! (ridiculous price!) but we deserve them!!
Take care Susan

Mmmnnnn Jersey Royals, a real treat :j :j I'll remember to get him to do his chores onces he is strong enough hun, don't you worrySorry to hear about his constipation being so bad but glad it is clearing now and he's had his treatment :j
District Nurse came lunch-time and changed his dressings. The one where one of his stitches hadn't healed is doing very well and she used a smaller dressing today, saying it should be ok without a dressing at all in a couple of days. When I changed his stoma bag this morning, the top of the abcess dressing came away. The wadding was full and it had leaked slightly overnight, but we left it in place as I didn't want to touch it yet, so alan stayed in bed, or lying on the top actually, until the nurse came and changed it. It had been two days since they took the drain out, but the plugging/dressing will be changed every day from now on, which will be better
Visitors didn't manage to get here today which was disappointing for Alan, but at least, in expecting them to come, I did do the hoovering and more tidying upI actually think we got the message wrong and it is next Thursday they are due
I rang doctors and got Alan's new meds put on his repeat prescription and then prescribed/dispensed for me to pick up at tea-time, when I picked mine up too, and I dropped in the letter from the hospital from Tuesday while I was there. I then had to go to the chippy yet again as Alan fancied steak pie & chips, but, although he enjoyed them, he said the pie was heavier to eat and would be having fish in future. I had a Rustlers cheese Burger with a few of the chips
Bad news for my friend Linda today, as her elder sister passed away in hospital at 8.30 am, so I have been round to comfort her twice today. She is distraught as she was very close to this sister as there was quite a gap between them and her other sister. She had cancer and it had gone right through her body, into her brain too. They all thought that she'd known about the cancer and kept it to herself mainly due to the fact her own daughter was fairly near death with cancer too, but in fact the nurse told them yesterday that she'd been right though all her notes and cancer had not been mentioned before, despite several investigations including scans. I must say it was hard to hear her description of her sister dying, knowing of what is to come with Alan, but she had to talk it through and I am the only one she has to do this with
By the way, Alan's oncologist's appointment has come through for Friday 30th March at 2.30 pm, which conflicts with our meeting with Macmillan regarding DLA claim, etc, so I have contacted Macmillan to try to rearrange that meeting, asking if it could be brought forward to the Monday 26th so the claims can be done and submitted, out of the way. Alan pulled a face when the appointment arrived, as this brings him nearer to making the decision as to whether he has chemo or not
Alan went to bed at 8.30pm but we are getting up early tomorrow as he wants to try to get out tomorrow, so we are going down to the car boot for an hour or so about 8 am. I will get the wheelchair out of Linda's boot in the morning we bought it for her to use, but it is still ours and use that for him as he will not be able to walk around or stand for long, but at least he can see his friends and have a chat, plus we are going to have breakfast there. The District Nurse isn't coming until after lunch to make sure we are back
Now I must plan my shopping list for tomorrow afternoon with those conditional spends and lots of coupons and offers
By the way, I had a lovely message from Solventsoon in the early hours of this morning. She isn't online much at all these days, having a break from MSE, and was just having a little catch up when she saw the news and she offered some very kind words :AMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

I took Alan down to the car boot this morning ........... but I didn't get any offers for him :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Seriously, I took the wheelchair down and pushed him round and we sat having a cuppa and then a breakfast sarnie, chatting all the while with friends, so he enjoyed himself though it was all very tiring for him. I drove him home and then went back down to show a fellow booter into one of the storage units and I sold her a few boxes of bric-a-brac for a tenner. Back home, Alan went to bed after the District Nurse had been and had a good rest as he needed itMr 3Dogs 3-7-12
