Christ!!, started reading from p.90 so have no idea about beanies' problems, but can I just stick my oar in and say that I hope Alan's chemo works poor chap. He really has had a rough time. Give him my regards.

I was going to say as I'm on a months holiday soon, I'd pop-down to see you guys, but you now much much more on your plate.

My friend attended his brothers funeral today. He died of pancreatic cancer. Never knew he had it until a couple of weeks before he died.

One wonders how different the world would have been if Dr Raymond Royal had been able to get his 'Rezonator' approved for use in hospitals. He worked-out that you could use soundwaves to cure cancer and brain tumours. Trouble is, the pharmacos spent millions lobbying US govt to ban it.

That sounds like it would have been great, if it had been allowed to be developed :(

A month's holiday   How have you wangled yourself a whole month Pat? Never mind, let's just see how things go with Alan and we might still be able to meet up ;)

Beanie has lost her Dad by the way :(

My holiday came-about because my agency don't let you know how much time you have accrued. I found out 3 weeks ago that I had 14.48 days already and would accrue 7.34 days up to the 1 year anniversary of my start-date. Their policy is 'use it, or lose it'. So, from 11:30 on Monday 12 March I start an enforced break, returning at 7:55 on April 12th.

Mind you, I will be trying hard to get a permanent job, so won't be spending all the time sunning myself.

Beanie - Sorry to hear of your loss. Lots of hugs all round.

    Hello 3dogs

Just popped in to say I hope all goes well today, make sure you ask them about anything you are not sure about, when Alan comes out it will be you looking out for him.

Sorry to hear about Billy, but probably the best for all of you. We have a Jack Russell called Nemo and he was very gentle and extremely protective of Nick when he first got home but he seemed to understand not to go crazy and jump on his belly!

Thanks Aesop and Beanie Lou for the welcome! Not amazing just dealing with the c**p life has thrown at me the best I can! If my experience can help some else thats good, its a poo place to be in.

    Fingers crossed for you both

Well, Steve & Andy came over at 9 am and we went down to the car boot and they helped me to sort out stuff in one of the storage units. We got loads done due to their hard work, and Stuart came and took away some items that he'd given Alan to sell for him. all in all, good progress made :j :j

After a bite to eat, we went over to the hospital to see Alan who was ok. He'd been up in his chair for 2 hours this morning and was lying in bed reading a book. The doc came to see us and ran through what had happened, what the position was, and what is going to happen. When they'd gone in to drain off the infection from his appendectomy op, they found that he had a large abcess on his bowel which had gone through the wall of the bowel and fused to other tissue  They dealt with this and inserted a drain to get rid of the infected fluid. They also found a golf ball size tumour which they's removed with part of the larger bowel, and fitted a stoma/coloscopy bag. As the cancer had spread from the bowel to the liver, part of which was also removed, this did mean that it was Stage 4, final Stage cancer and untreatable :(

Alan might be home on Monday, which is good news, and has to rest and recover from this operation, ready to meet with oncologist in 5-6 weeks time who will discuss the chemo options and the pros and cons of the treatment. Alan could then decide whether to have the chemo or not. The prognosis is that Alan has between 6 months and 2 years left, though this was only an estimate and varied by many things including the strength of the patient. The doc said that he considers Alan strong both mentally and physically :)

Alan was quite pleased with this prognosis as he was worried that doc would say only a couple of months or so, meaning he'd have just enough time to get his head around it, when it would be over. He said that we must make the most of the time he has left and enjoy life :A

I have done the round of texting and phoning, updating everyone with this new information and now just having a glass of wine before going to bed. I have been VERY tired today so lads aren't coming over till 1 pm tomorrow to do more sorting down at the car boot before going over to see Alan again

I just logged on to tell you all that Susan, Steve and Andy are going into the ward to see Alan now. They have cleared one of the lockups which is great news. And they have bought lots of chocolate which always helps.

Steve keeps offering to jump into bed with Alan. Alan gave a very funny reply:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Hugs to all. :kisses3:
