I have been worried about Alan as he has had a fever for the last three days, without telling me. In fact, he didn't know this himself, until he asked this morning what day it was, when he had last rang me, and when he last ate. I
umm get Alan to call nhsdirect tomorrow please Susan. He may have an infection, hence his fever! He needs to get it checked, as he may need antibiotics.

Hiya guys
Mam ok again today with no more bleeding :j She is tired and weak but chatting away and eating happily
Alan wasn't too good this morning but better this afternoon. I told him to ring NHS HelpLine but he wouldn't  Actually, the main problem seems to be wind  ............ trapped wind after the op and as soon as he can release the windthe pain eases
He is going to get the bus into town tomorrow to pick up his normal meds I ordered online for him, so he is going to ask to see a nurse while he is there

ok, at least Alan is going to talk to someone in person. They can always check him for infection, etc.
Good to hear about Mam.0 -
Evening/Morning guys. I've had a mixed day
Mam has been quiet today but ok, and has not passed any more blood. My sister and I were talking to the nurse who was on duty on Saturday 11th Feb when Mam was found with massive haemorrhaging. I knew that it was not loose, flowing blood, but was clots, but what I did not fully understand was that the 'clots' were almost fist-sized and the nurse said they thought that Mam was a 'goner' at that point. They had gone in her room first thing on that morning and Mam was sitting there holding up her right hand and it was covered in blood, and she was very distressed. This makes us even more annoyed and astonished that they did not call the doctor in. My sister was told that the docs work 5 days a week and have weekends off, except in an emergency. I wonder just what is classed as an emergency
Anyway, as I said, we are happy with Mam's progress as she has not passed any blood for 3 days now and is getting just a little of her colour back. Problem is, without knowing where the blood was from and what caused it,we don't know if/when it will return and what damage has been done
I took my sister shopping at Mr T lunchtime, before we went down to see Mam, to show her what to look for and if we could find any of the bargains listed lately. While we were checking out the chocolates, Alan rang me and he sounded terrible, in great pain again. He hadn't even been able to get dressed, never mind get the bus into town. I put him on to my sister so she could hear him, and see how bad he sounded and she was shocked and said he should ring the doc to get someone out to see him. I got back on the phone and told him that I was going to ring the docs and ask for a call-back from a doctor, which I did, and our registered doc rang him straight away, saying he thought he would need to go back into hospital but that he would send another doc out to assess him. Alan rang back about 45 minutes later to say doc had been, examined him and said that the pain was nothing to do with his appendix op last week, but more to do with his sciatica which was getting worse due to him having to take it easy to protect the op wound. Doc told him to take 8 co-codamol and 3 diclafenic a day and try to potter about a bit to try to loosen up his muscles. He can't however do the exercises to ease his sciatica as these pull on the area where the wound is
Alan had a sleep after this as the pain had eased somewhat, before the doc had come, and he rang me again at 7.15pm, in agony. He told me that he had gone to Mr T in March and got some bread, marg and orange squash. He has not felt like eating at all due to the pain and lack of sleep, so thought he would get bread so he could have a slice when he needed to take his tablets. I asked him if he had been ok on the bus and he told me he'd driven the van  I told him off but he said that he'd had to check if he could drive so he could pick me up from station on Wednesday  That is two days away and he could change massively by then. Anyway, he was going to bed again after our chat so I have to see how he is in the morning, and ring the docs to ask them to deliver his tablets he is waiting for, as I know that Tuesday is delivery day for our village
His calls in Mr T really worried me and when we finished our shopping, we went to the till and I mistakenly put my stuff through separately and it was only when my sister's went through for £32 that I remembered that we were meant to put them through together to use a £5 off £40 voucher, so we missed out on that
I am off to bed now - so very very tiredMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Sorry that Alan is so unwell.
What a worry for you
Yes, Alan is my greatest worry at the moment, hence me going home tomorrow. Mam has been quite settled to more bleeding so that is good. Doc saw her today and said they are amazed at her strength. Alan has been slightly better today, but not much - still in pain most of the time and hardly sleeping, so I am looking forward to getting home tomorrow night to check on him and look after himMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

I had just gone upstairs, got sorted, and had just pulled the covers back to get into bed ............. and my mobile rang - I was terrified to answer it as it was 1.10 am. It was Alan and he sounded very calm so I asked him if he knew what time it was, he said yes and that he'd had a shower, got ready in clean pj's & dressing gown, packed some things in a bag and didn't know whether to ring doctors or 999   His stomach is very tender and swollen above and to the side of the wound from his op:(
I told him to ring 999 but he insisted on ringing docs as they'd told him to get back to them if pain got worse
He rang the docs number and was redirected to out-of-hours service who said that someone would ring him back. He got a call within 5 minutes and the lady he spoke to told him to get to Doddington. He hit the roof when she told him to get a cab when he said he couldn't drive and had no-one to take him, saying he would just have to ring 999 then, but she then said 'oh no, I will get someone out to see you'. So he is now waiting for doc to come but expecting to have to go to hospitalMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Half hour later a doctor arrives and within seconds confirms that Alan has to go to hospital. He examined him and checked his temperature which is high. He was only there 5 inutes and that included calling the ambulance, doing his paperwork and a letter for Alan to give to ambulance-man. Could be anything up to an hour for it to arrive, depending how busy they are, but it was ordered at 2.15 am
Been talking lots to Alan on the phone and he is quite calm, knowing he has to get to hospital and that he will then be in the right place. He went off to unlock the door while waiting for the doc and there was such a clatter and he was away a while. I was getting very worried at this end but when he got back to the phone he told me he had remembered the kitchen bin needed emptied   :rotfl:Mr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Well the ambulance came at 3.10 am and Alan should just about be in Kings Lynn hospital now. I won't even be able to see him tomorrow as my train doesn't get in till almost 10pm and by the time I get a taxi home it will be about 10.45 pm. So I will go over on Thursday to see him
