3Dogs, have they even scanned your mum to see if anything shows-up?. If not, how can they have any idea where the bleeding originates from. It could be anything from severe piles (had them myself) through to a ruptured internal organ.Never Knowingly Understood.

I've had flu this week. And I took 2 weeks off work to job hunt. So one week lost. Couldn't concentrate on job applications, spent Tuesday sleeping, Wednesday dozing.
and have had no coffee for 3 days :eek:0 -
Big shock to the system isn't it? Poor you, it will take a bit of getting used to again. Is the leg holding up to you working again?
To right about the shock, as it is I'm only doing half shift's  and my leg is realy aching, but I'm looking on that as a possitive, ie, it's aching, not hurting, but I will say it's nice to see the resident's again, quite a few have said they'v missed me:D£71.93/ £180.000 -

That's the thing Pat, Mam was put into this end-of-life unit in Novemebr 2010, which is like a hospital ward in a care home, funded by NHS, on the basis that she would not have any investigations or treatment for whatever it is she had due to her being 91 then, and so frail, as it was considered that she would not be able to take the exploration necessary or the treatment then needed. The unit is like a palliative care unit or Hospice where the only 'treatment' residents receive is just to make them comfortable and ease their pain
We think she is jaundiced so could be her liver, or senior doc thinks it may be a tumour, but says the bleeding being clots of blood, is coming through her bowelsMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

That's terrible. It might be something really simple and requiring no surgery. Without a scan, they will never know.Never Knowingly Understood.

I know, Pat, I knowThey wouldn't scan her when she was in the hospital in October 2010 saying that she was too frail for any treatment, and, once transferred to this unit, no scans, x-rays, or anything like that, just make comfortable until the end comes
Mam has had a fairly good day today, sleepy this morning, becoming more aware after her lunch, and laughing and giggling with me and my sister later in the day. She has eaten well today, and drank plenty fluid, and there were only a few spots of blood first thing this morning. So, not too bad a day
However, Alan is suffering at home with his sciatica. He didn't sleep last night due to the pain and only slept this afternoon after taking some Orimorph he has left. He can't do his sciatica exercises as they pull on his wound from the op, so he is tightening up I guess
I have booked to go home on Wednesday to Friday next week. Anyone have any ideas how I can be in two places at once??Mr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Well I have decided that, when I go home on Wednesday, I will stay at least a week, as long as Mam doesn't get any worse. She has been good today, with no further bleeding, eating well, and chatting nicely. Aln has talked to her on the mobile again and she loves it, although she doesn't know what he is saying. She can hear him say 'Hello Molly' and laughs and says 'hello' back but is lost after that, but Alan has commented that she is talking very clearly, from what he has heard when I am talking to him
I have been worried about Alan as he has had a fever for the last three days, without telling me. In fact, he didn't know this himself, until he asked this morning what day it was, when he had last rang me, and when he last ate. It has all been just a blur to him, since Wednesday night  His sciatica has eased, but his wound is sore and a little red, so he put a dressing back on it tonight. I will be very glad to get home to check up on him on WednesdayMr 3Dogs 3-7-12
