Sounds like you had a better day yesterday 3Dogs & I hope you got some rest. Your Mam is a tough lady with so much strength & I can tell you have inherited some of that too. Your account of yesterday was so lovely & I hope all is well today :A
Keep smiling xx0 -
Evening guys
My brother went down to see Mam this morning till 1.45 pm and me and my sister went down from 1.55 to 6.45 pm. There had been no new bleeding and Mam was mostly the same as yesterday, still chatting and eating and drinking. The main Doctor comes round on a Tuesday after 2 pm and we sate waiting to see her as we had many questions to ask, but, when she hadn't been down to see Mam by 3.30 pm, my sis went down to ask and the nurse said she had been and gone  Being so disappointed in doc not looking in to see Mam today and speak to us, my sister hit the roof. The nurse then rang the doc and came down to tell us that doc had popped in to check Mam 'just before 2 pm' and, as no more bleeding, Mam eating well, and smiling back at her, so she felt that was enough. However we have seen lots of changes in Mam over the last two days, as her colour is changing, getting paler and possibly jaundiced, so much so that her ears look like false ears, made of wax - yellow and almost see-through; her hands have lost all colour and she is keep moving/shaking her hands/arms as if she is losing feeling in them; she is groaning in pain at times; and is talking more stuff like 'You won't let me die will you?'; plus this afternoon there was more blood from her bowels
The nurses passed on all our comments and, shortly after Mam passed more blood, they called my Sis to the phone to speak to the doctor, who apologised. She has agreed to give Mam some orimorph tonight to settle her and lesson the pain, and will review her pain-relief. She said that other doc had 'explained things to us yesterday' but she hadn't, she'd just kept nodding her head and smiling at Mam, and said that they would keep an eye on her and a check on how much blood she lost
So we felt very let down by the doctor. We know Mam is not going to get better and they can't do certain things, but keeping her comfortable and out of pain as far as possible is not too much to ask, not is keeping up informed and answering our questionsIt was only after all this today, that my sis got the doc to give her opinion as to what is causing the blood. We asked if it had anything to do with the 'coffee-ground' dried blood sick that she was taken in with but they wouldn't explore or treat as, in the hospital doctor's own words Mam was 'at the end of her life' - this was said to me and my sis in front of Mam, several times in the hospital - why oh why couldn't he say 'because of her age and frailty'

You are there with your Mam & she has her family around her & that is the main thing..I guess that all any of us really want at a time like this.
Sounds like she is gaining comfort from having you there despite her frail condition.:A
I agree the doctor needs to be more tactful & I would have a quiet word if you get chance tomorrow...although I guess they are so desensitized to this stuff & they don`t feel the shock impact of their words as we do...but thats still no excuse.
Stay strong Hun..xx
Maybe this song this will give you some strength..

ooh Angie moving house???? intriging :j :j
I went down to visit Mam at 11 am and the carers where just changing her and her bedding and washing her. When they came out, they said Mam had again passed loads of bloodShe was very tired and, after smiling at me when I got into her room, she went to sleep. She woke up once, turning to see me, and said 'Oh, I didn't know you were there', smilled and dropped straight off to sleep again. She woke for her lunch, but struggled to eat it, and then slowly ate her pudding. I made her a cup of tea, but after eating 1 dunked biscuit, she fell asleep again. I woke her for her meds and she then fell asleep again with the nebuliser on
I just let her sleep, and she didn't wake until my brother arrived at 2 pm, when she was a little brighter, chatting a little. I left him to watch her and popped to Mr T for some normal shopping, picking up my sister to go back down there at 4 pm. Brother said Mam had been quiet and sleepy while he was there
The carers changed her about 4.30 pm and there was blood there again, not as much as in the morning, but plentyMam couldn't eat her dinner and only just managed her yoghurt, and then was saying she felt sick. She had been talking to us and giggling, but started to get confused and seeing a man standing in the doorway of her room and shouting at him to tell her who he was and what he was doing there. She yelled for her Dad too, and my brother. We talked it over with the nurse and two carers, who are worried about her, especially the lovely carer B who was upset at mam being off her food, knowing that this was serious. They are going to keep an eye on her and give her something to stop her feeling sick if she mentions it again. She kept insisting that she had to go out, to the clinic and eventually stopped saying this when we persuaded her that her appointment was for another day
She also repeatedly told us and the carers that she was going to jump out of the window
She was more or less settled when we left after 7 pm, so we hope that she would sleep again
It has been a tiring day and I ache after sitting at her bedside, leaning over to hold her hand, feed her, etcMr 3Dogs 3-7-12
