Well I'd just got to bed at 2 am when the nurse from the ward rang to say Alan was back on the ward. They had removed his appendix but had to cut him open to do it, not keyhole. But he was ok
He text me this morning at 6.18 am to say "Cup of tea and two chocolate digestives - heaven" and then at 7 am he had cereal, sausage sandwich and a yoghurt. He is tender but ok, so I am off over there now. With it being open rather than keyhole, he won't be out today, but should be home tomorrow :j
I am off over there now so will let you know later how things are - thanks for all the messages :AMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Woo Hoo the forum is back up and ok. I lost a long post before as MSE went offline while I was typing it up  so had to do it again now they are online
I passed all your message on to Mr 3Dogs today and he says thanks ever so much, it is really appreciated
He was in surgery last night from 11.35 till 1.55 am, and the surgeon had gone straight in with the knife as he could tell that keyhole would not be adequate. He found the appendix very inflamed and some puss about, so he removed the appendix and flushed out the area, before stitching him up. When he woke around 6 am, the nurse on the ward had gone to fetch the sandwich which should have been left for him to have when he came round, but there was nothing there for him, so she offered him the 2 choc hobnobs she had in her own bag and he had them as he was starving. He had his breakfast around 7.30 am so was ok after that
I got there to visit around 3 pm, having called to Mr T in K!ngs Lynn for squash and sweeties for him as well as change for the car park which is £2.60 for 2 ½ hours. He was ok, lying on his bed, but still on pain relief (morph) as still very sore, but this time from the wound. He soon gobbled up the choccies – galaxy gift 65p each or 4 for £1 – and made a start on the sweeties, and he had 5 glasses of squash while I was there. The doc had been pleased with him this morning and said he could probably go home tomorrow, so I’ll wait for his phone call then go over to pick him up, if I can ..................... we have more snow
We noticed a few flaked of snow out of the window when I was visiting, but it got heavier by about 5 pm and when I left at 5.30 pm, it was coming down steadily. The roads were keeping clear though and I got back to Wisbech fine. I popped into Wisb Mr T for ciggies and dog food for my disabled neighbour and by the time I came out of the store, the snow was starting to lie. It is about 6 miles home from there along the busy A47 and the snow was starting to lie on the road, and when I got to our village the roads where white. After about 30 minutes I popped along to my neighbour’s with her shopping and my footprints from coming in earlier had disappeared. I was there for about 45 minutes for a cuppa and chat and my footprints from going a long there had been covered over when I came home again. I pushed my key into the snow to see how much there was, and I reckon that about 2 – 3 inches had fallen in about 3 hours, and it is still falling steadily now ............ so I hope I can get over to Lynn tomorrow to pick him up  :eek:Mr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Yes, Alan is home :j :j :j The village road is still bad but main roads were fine
He rang me to say they were letting him home but allowing him to have the lunch he ordered first (fish, chips & peas) before he left so I went over for 2 pm and parked close to the entrance. He was ready with his meds, letters and carrier bag of clothes, and walked, slowly, out and to the car. Mind you, when we got in the lift he said then that his legs felt like he'd run a marathon, as he'd not taken more than a few steps since Tuesday morning. We came straight home, he had a cuppa and a bar of CDM then went to bed while I nipped into town to put his letter in and make an appointment for nurse for Monday morning for his wound to be checked. When I got back he was still sound asleep and didn't stir until about 7 pm when I was making dinner, so he's had that now and is hinting for more choc
He just has to keep the wound clean and no heavy lifting for 6 - 8 weeks, so no car booting for him for a while
Lovely to have him home - I may get the dogs out of the kennels tomorrow or Sunday. He is a little worried if the dogs jump on him, and concerned for me walking them in this weather, but we will see how it goesMr 3Dogs 3-7-12
