  • Pick on people? Aha!

Like I said in the post you just quoted, it doesn't mean I'm always perfectly nice. If someone says something to me that I don't like, usually I will say bog off, shock horror.
If I see something where I feel I want to say something... I will comment on it, but some people on here do nothing more than bully users.
Some users go to a thread, just to post something rude. Time well spent?

I also think people have to spend far too much time saying BE NICE, when there are signs everywhere saying be polite and nice to others.
We're all grown ups and it's not a tit for tat situation.

It's only a forum, people get so riled up. There isn't really any need for it sometimes.

    That's all. :)

Down on the right you see a notice sometimes saying "Forum etiquette - please be nice to other money savers"

........"money savers" being the operative words...........

When you get people repeatedly posting the same stupid (sorry, but no other word for it !!) questions about cashing in their pension, not paying the huge bill THEY have run up on their credit card, etc, etc - which invariably means that the rest of us - including YOU daisychain, have to pick up the bill in the long run - I am afraid that I don't consider them to be "money savers" - just foolish spongers looking for a way out. And, they should be told that ...........

OR - highly suspect threads like this one.................

I know sometimes it is frustrating, some posts are absolutely mind boggling, some of my posts when I first signed up may have sounded silly, but people being cruel and rude really doesn't help.

Also, I assumed by "money savers" they are referring to anyone who uses the forum. Money savers or otherwise. Some people do drive you bonkers but I just leave the thread, it can get a bit much when you see posters trying really hard to embarrass the OP or make them look stupid.

I'm all for being honest and telling someone straight but there are better ways of doing it than laughing at them.

It's as if some of the forum users have their own rules about who is worthy to post here and they forget it is a public forum, everyone is entitled to post, regardless of whether they can spell well or not, or whether they ask "daft" questions :p That's just how I feel :o

There is usually always someone pulling me up about what I'm saying or about previous posts and it makes me think twice about posting here for fear of being shot down about something even if I mean well!

Anywho... others must think it because I didn't start the thread xx

I must admit that I do sometimes wonder at the mentality of people who hover on threads, trying to verbally kick someone to death.

Perhaps they are bitter and feel like failures themselves, and feel happier if they make someone else miserable - who knows?

If someone comes on here, in a terrible financial mess, it may be down to their stupidity, and often is, but they will already KNOW this, and to be told it again by people they don't know, doesn't really help.

Over extended debt is a miserable situation, and can happen to anyone - strangers hurling abuse at a poster won't help them to deal with it.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

Absolutely! I think some people forget that there are others out there that are genuinely naive when it comes to money and money saving, hence why this forum exists. I was about to say that the main culprits seem to be the more established members, many of whom in my opinion tend to ride on their high horse, basking in their own self glory. But the quoted post does prove me wrong a little, and has reminded me that not everyone is like that. I do think that some people have these over inflated egos because they've been money savers for a little longer that they can talk down to others.

I like this forum, it makes for interesting reading and includes some good advice, but the conceited nature of some people is quite nasty.

I've found on the DFW board that people are really nice, supportive and non-judgemental.

I've very rarely (if ever) seen a post on DFW to somebody in a financial mess (be it self-imposed or not) telling them they are stupid and hurling abuse at them.
I have seen a few from obvious trolls which have been removed very quickly, but that's not the same as 'proper' members being nasty.

I've posted on the thread that moonrakerz has put the link to as I too think it highly suspicious and a thinly disguised means of advertising his charity calendar - as do many people on lots of other forums that he's posted on.

What I don't like is people who come on and rant and bluster about poor service (or whatever) when they are clearly in the wrong.

The Amazon Prime thread is a good example.
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1800095
People have to physically sign up for this but still say they have been charged for it without their knowledge.

If someone says 'Whoops, I got it wrong, is there any way to get my money back?' I reply tactfully.

If they rant and rage over Amazon's customer service and say how internet savvy they are and how they couldn't possibly have made a mistake and they never, ever signed up, I tell them how stupid they've been.

I think the replies people get are in a large way based on the tone of the original post.

You talk about unhelpful comments but i can talk about numerous replies on the same subject made by the OP who wastes peoples time as they reply to the first thread then the following day asks the same question with more replies which annoy people as you could get 2 different set of views.

Good advice, now why not try putting it into practice. ;)
