How do I go about renting privately with no gurantor and not earning 3x the rent?

I have applied to the council of where I am needing to live (where my job is moving to) but if I don't get a council flat within 10 months I will need to go private.
If I don't earn 3x the rent or have a gurantor will they accept 6 months rent in advance? I really do need to move as I do not want to give this job up.
Any idea's, will any landlord accept you as a tenant if you don't earn 3x the rent?
Also how often do landlords do checks and do they have to give notice. Do any of them allow pets?
My last flat was above a shop so all rent was just paid to the landlord downstairs and earnings where never quetioned

I apologize in advance if you have a condition which makes you repeat the same things again and again, but seriously how many times are you going to ask the same questions.Nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. - Alex Supertramp0

There are landlords that don't look at your income. Mostly live in landlords and you can be a lodger.
There are landlords that allow pets.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I have read all about you Brett, but I don't seem to remember that you have a pet as well. What sort of a pet is it ?Nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. - Alex Supertramp0

Usually landlord's agent does the checking sometimes 6 months sometimes annually.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

As long as you leave it in the cage then it's not considered a pet like a dog or a cat that can damage the landlords property.

So if I have a pet rat, it won't cause a problem even if ad says no pets?0 -
