Will a landlord accept 6 months rent in advance?

I need to move in a year because of my employment moving and don't want to give it up. I do earn decent money, but don't earn 3 x the rent.
Will a landlord take into consideration previous references? I lived on £500 a month before and my rent was £360. and never ever missed a payment.
If I can't get a gurantor and previous refs are not taken into consideration, will they accept 6 months rent paid in advance (I will save some) because I really don't want to give up my employment for the sake of travel

Possibly: (No offence but..) if someone offered me 6 or 12 months upfront I''d assume there were "problems" somewhere and be wary & be careful to ensure this wasnae the old "cannabis farm" or brothel ploy... However if you explain why etc etc should help..
Cheers & hope it works out.0 -
Depends on the landlord. When I moved into my first rental accommodation I had no references or guarantor - I offered to pay 6 months up front and the LL jumped at it.poppy100

Why would someone who did that highlight themselves by paying 6 months in advance?0 -

People are not creative. Why "or"?0 -
What makes you think that you need to earn 3x the rent?
"Will a landlord take into consideration previous references?"
Most will but your credit-checks could be seen by some as much more pertinent.0 -

My credit rating is fine I have never been in debt and never ever paid anything late. The only reason I want to pay 6 months in advance is because I don't earn the 3x the rent rule I earn roughly £1,000 per month, and to rent a £400 a month house I would have to earn £1,200 per month atleast. Correct?0 -
What's the '3x rent rule'? I've never heard of it before. I don't think I earn 3x my rent (after tax), I imagine there are lots of people who don't.0

Well, in principle, as a rule of thumb, one should not spend more than 1/3 of income on rent or mortgage repayment.
E.g. when bank managers were actually cautious they did check that criterion as part of their assessment of mortgage applications. Perhaps they do it again these days.0 -

My last landlord didn't care, but it was above a shop so a bit less formal. Will any other landlord accept me earning £1,000 pcm if the rent is £400?0 -

That is what I was thinking. Not many people earn 3x their rent now do they0
