No. Only the last six years.
This is governed by the Statute of Limitation.
Bet you wish you discovered this earlier ay?!

To answer the regular question, the 6 years actually starts from the time you file the claim at court, however most pay out from the date you sent the SAR.the way forward is the consumer action group .co.uk0

Many Thanks for the reply.
I have just spent hour looking at the Limations Act. It does say that the 6
years start from the date the last payment was made, so I am going to give it a go and hopefully get somewhere - nothing really to lose.
But there is nothing in the Act that says you can not go back further then
6 years, you are only limited to the 6 year period 'in which to make a claim'.
or am I reading it completely wrong ??

For all those enquiring about if you can go back further than 6 years, it can be done, however it is a lot more difficult and risky, if your asking on here if it is possible, i'd guess that you are no-where near ready to try and claim back further than the 6 year limit.
I'd suggest putting a couple of evening aside and having a look through all the guides on here and also on the bank action group site.
You need to be fully aware of the process and the laws you are relying on for your claim for it to be successful.0 -

Hi there,
Can anyone tell me if you can reclaim bank charges that happened more than six years ago? Nat West put my husband and I through alot of stress - they even took our money out of our savings account without telling us and each letter that they sent us was adding around £35 to our already rising debt.
thanks

It is possible, but it requires a different process and additional knowledge. Try the Consumer Action Group site (link in Martin's article in my signature) for more details.0 -
Hi Guys,
My partner and his ex incurred a lot of bank charges on their old account over the last 6 years.
My partner is looking to try and claim this back. Is 6 years too far back?
Also, can he claim on charges from their joint account if his Ex is not involved??
Thanks!
