  • Hey all,

Did my yearly projections for 2012 cash-flow and worked out how much money went through my bank in 2011 and I am stunned at how much money I spend and yet have so little to show for it.

So this year I am on a massive savings mission. I will start with a realistic goal of 12k but ideally go a lot higher. I have 9k left to pay on our wedding renewal so that will eat away a bit.

I really need to get some money saved so I can stop paying 21k a year on rent!!!!:mad:

Anyway looking forward to joining the challenge and seeing everyone doing great!!

First deposit going in on the 14th...

    Rhys

My savings are growing by a small trickle rather than a flood at the moment. Another £6.96 transfered from the CA to cover difference in DD budgeted and actual:)
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

Mine will grow in trickles too. I can only put away a large chunk at the start of the month since its payday and if I don't move it i'll spend it lol.

Just realised that £12000 is actually more than my yearly employed earnings!

    Hey, can I join please?

I've drifted off the savings wagon over the last few months and need to get back on track. We're hoping to move out from lodging with my in-laws by the end of the year and I'm thinking about doing a masters so need as much as possible!

Can you put my target at £5000 please?

    Good luck everyone!

Took loads of photos for eBay at the weekend, and listed some last night. Already have a bid on one item :D . That'll get added to the pot! Now just have to list everything else and hope for some more bids...

  • well done everyone on the turbo charged start tot his challenge!

BOHEMIA sorry to hear about your car costs, I hate spending on cars but its a necessary evil these days (we had 2 cars at one point but got rid of car no 2 and saved a few bob :) )

Just been onto the Halifax online banking and transferred the £5 reward from mine and OH accounts so thats another tenner in the pot! Transferred it into the ISA online :)

I'm looking at the finances to see if there is anyway I can pinch money from one area to this savings challenge but no action...

Grand total now is £75.22 :)
    Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
    Save £12k in 2013 no.34 £11,800/£12,000
'How much can you save' thread = £7,050
    Total=£29,100
    Mfi3 no. 88: Balance Jan '06 = £63,000.
    Balance 23.11.09 = £nil. :)
  • Well my tax refund cheque has just cleared so that's £600 into the savings pot.:j.. (and the rest for my loan and the new netbook I've been wanting). I also have £2.87 from the saving account which pays monthly interest so I'll add that too.

Absolutely gutted. All my good intentions for saving this year... took our car in today and it needs a new gearbox... ballpark figure 2000 pounds :(:(:(
Would it maybe cheaper to sell that car as spare or repairs and buy a new one? Obviously I don't know the value of your car but it gets to a point when they're often uneconomical to repair. I feel for you, I live in a rural area and have to drive, no buses, nearest town 7 miles away.

I have started a big clear out and am going to be ebaying like crazy, all going into the funds :-)
