I have a loan that I'd want to clear in 2012. Hoping I'll be able to use a bonus payment for this (I have 1/2 the loan amount in savings now). Therefore can you put me down for £5000 - that averages £412 per month... think I should be able to achieve that!
  • I think I'd like to give this a go!

Don't think we could reach £12,000 though, we're just starting to think about a deposit for a place of our own (currently renting) but given that our wages are considerably lower than some on here we might need to aim for a smaller figure!

I think we'll aim for £6000 to start, I'm assuming we could up our target if needed?!

Any rules to this challenge? Anything that can/can't be added?

im planning on saving 10k by the end of next year.

cant wait, im mid twenties and due to partly being reckless and partly issues that have come up i have nooooo savings at all.

its going to be a challange as im on a low wage (26.5k per year) but well see. hoping for 833.33 per month :D

LOW WAGE???? Mine & my husbands TOTAL annual income is this and we are both full time employed  I would so love to join this group but I know there is no way I could do it... mind you if I start to charge my 18 yo ds a grand a month in rent maybe I could ..... lol fat chance he could afford that tho!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE and I hope you suceed with your targets.

Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

You can't count the £2,500 - the whole point of this challenge is to save between 01/01/2012 and 31/12/2012 :) welcome aboard though!

Can anyone think of any rules this challenge needs? I've added a couple onto the first post, but can't really think of any more, so some help would be good! :)

Front page is also updated; we're up to 40 members! :D

Surely to save £12k in a year you need to be on a decent gross. I'm £30k gross and even I don't save £12k a year!

I can't think of anything hun.. can the money come from any income ie be made up of anything including main job wages etc? Apart from that I can't think of owt, it's a pretty open challenge which is why it's so good, it gives more people a chance I think :D
