Going to pay all my bills from it and my fuel and leave my normal day to day spending on my normal current account. This is so i cant overspend and i know all my bills are paid without having to worry about them.

    Excellent idea :)

So how is everybody planning to save this money? Will it be as easy as putting aside the excess from your salaries? Or are you planning to scrimp as much as possible to squeeze every little bit extra out of your income?

As a family we will be slightly better off as I have gone back to work part time. However we will be really frugal this year.

No more takeaways and meals out (most of them are disappointing anyway). I am going to buy the takeaway secrets book that I have read about on the old style thread, and cook us a takeaway instead.

The other plan is to take the kids out once every 4 weeks for a day out as in the past we have gone out every week!

Really need to look at uping our income as well. I am quite good at restoring furniture and making bits on my sewing machine so might try selling on ebay.

Hoping there will be some other ideas along shortly.:j

I'm thinking of doing the following:

    - continuing ebaying to get rid of ALL clutter in my life
    - stop buying stuff on ebay (!)
    - cut down on takeaways
    - create multiple cheap meals to freeze
    - cross my fingers a little harder for a good xmas bonus!
    - Surveys to up my income
    - Remember to use Quidco (their toolbar is very handy for this)
    - Ask for more necessary presents for birthdays/xmas
    - Only buy toiletries when there are deals on

Other than that lot I think I'll mainly be saving excess income. Any tips much appreciated!

I think I have that plan every single week but it still looks like I have so much junk!

Is it bad I'm already thinking about putting all the unwanted Christmas pressies on eBay?!?! Ha ha

Heh, I don't blame you. Alternatively, to keep the value of the gifts, how about jotting down who gave them to you and re-gift them for birthdays to different people?

for us it wont just be a case of putting that money away each month as we don't have that much excess money each month to put away... so it'll be a case of putting what little away we can and 'topping it up' by various means. me working more hours, cutting back on shopping/bills eg. heating/electricity etc, getting rid of what we don't need eg. virgin tv now we have love film on the xbox etc., having a clear out etc. any unexpected money we get eg. birthdays/refunds will also be put away. i don't think it's achievable the target that i've set (that's not me being half empty... just me being realistic haha) and my other half is convinced we wont save anything at all and is refusing to have a slumming it year so that we can save as much as possible so i'm loosing before i've even started :| haha
£254/£12,000 challenge... Only £11,746 to go! Wish me luck! :|
