Guess so...?Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Sorry Slowlyfading I wrote that quickly before my eye test. If I can then I can increase my savings target to £6000. The money is in an account which I completely forgot I opened, only discovered yesterday when I was sorting some bank statements.
I'm not a big spender but forgetting I had money is another thing. Atleast I didn't put it under my mattress.0 -
I'm being sensible this xmas in prep for this challenge! I'm defo not going overboard on buying cr*p and the list has got lines crossed through some stuff that I think we wont miss. For example, xmas booze, I generally buy brandy, wine, baileys, martini etc... Today though I went to Lidl and got a 'Baileys' for £3.99 and a 'martini' for £3 ish and decided that I am not too bothered about the rest. We will drink schloer on xmas eve with the kids (99p a bottle) and got a couple of bottles of wine in from before so that'll do!
I've pared down the food list as it can get ridiculous, so hoping we will see the end of january a bit flusher than normal!Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
Save £12k in 2013 no.34 £11,800/£12,000

Total=£29,100

I set myself a budget for Christmas food, the family are coming on the 27th. At the moment it's not too bad but it's been good in so far as I've had to concentrate on what is important and what can be left out without feeling too restrictive. Having said that, I've just had my Wesh butcher deliver what I would consider to be almost years supply of meat. I took a whole day to bag up and freeze in small portions so as not to waste it, time well spent I hope. So freezers are full - almost - veg, fruit, meat, etc most unprepared but quite a lot of meals batched cooked already and frozen. We do tend to eat most meat - it's stuffed lambs hearts for tea, mash and veg, followed by home made mincemeat icecream - Christmas is almost here.
Having written all this I just wonder whether it is the right forum thread for this info - ah well, never mind, at least I will be able to concentrate on saving next year. Just off to put the 300+ chooks to bed and then make some flans with bacon, and hot water pastry pork pies to freeze with some bacon and minced pork shoulder I found at the bottom of one of the freezers which I had forgotten about.

Yeh i would say i am being "sensible" aswel.....well reasonably!! Got around £2,500 to last me until Friday the 7th of Jan....unless i get some cash in hand work somewhere as im off for 2 weeks at the end of this week!
£2,500 to cover my gfs xmas,petrol,nights out, phone and car fund account....plus 2 direct debits coming out the start of January at £800 and £300...so really need to be careful as i know how fast it can all disappear! Definatly need to just really stick at this challenge next year, try and make money out of everything and make sure everything is paid in full, on time.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

So I'm investing £125 into a SIP, share incentive plan, from work - comes out my gross pay and starting a Sharesave that starts in March next year saving £250 a month.
I will include these in with my monthly savings next year, along with two regular savers saving £250 x 2 into those ones until around May time. I'll need to find a home for that then. I'm thinking maybe another ISA, if I could get the £5,640 together by then. Just opened up a AA Savings Account to start putting some away into that to build up anything else left over towards the grand a month target.
Well that's the plan anyway. So I now have a target for my Cash Based Savings Total by December 2012 of £20,000 (Plus what I've saved into my SIP and Sharesave)0 -
Just a question;
Picked up a large bonus at work this month (5k) but won't be paid till Jan, can I count this?! I don't want to be seen 'cheating' lol!!!!0 -
I am keen to join this challenge. Because my income is erratic (I am currently working as a contractor), I have been wondering what target is realistic for me to aim for. In the end I have decided to aim for £6000.
Thanks.2014 Savings Challenge #161: £6771.58 /£40000 -
Hi all,
Can I be added to the challenge? It's inspiring seeing so many people going for this! I'm going to aim high at £15k!
Thanx!0
