Just a question;
Picked up a large bonus at work this month (5k) but won't be paid till Jan, can I count this?! I don't want to be seen 'cheating' lol!!!!I am only going to count what I physically move into savings, so I should be able to see £12,000 by the end of the year.
Already wondering how the heck I am going to buy my new winter coat in the sales and still make £1k in January... :undecided:I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.0 -
Well for my £15k i need an average of £1250 a month. Cant see me hitting it in March or April, making the average month for the other 10 infact £1500! Not an easy feat but im so ready to get going and tackle this.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Hi, Whilst I live with my OH she has quite a few financial issues of her own. For 2012 she is going to be addressing these-hopefully allowing us to progress in 2013!
As many other posters I would like to be saving towards a deposit and getting myself on the housing ladder. The saving scheme for 2012 will be based largely on my own finances.
My approx month P&L is:
net income - £1700 (£1500 + £200 from OH for bills).
food - £100
Car Tax - 18
Diesel - £50
Rent - £700
Insurance - 35
Mobile Phone - £35 (£15 after March)
C. Tax - £120
Elec - £50
Other utilies - £60
This leaves me with £532pcm left over. We live in rural Cambridgeshire and part time job opportunities are few and far between.............. Maybe I will try and set up my own ebay business as a supplementary income.
We have recently moved into unfurnished rented accommodation and over the last few months have had purchased beds, wardrobes, washing machines etc (mainly second hand). As we had nothing other than clothes before June 2011.
I would like to sign up for £6000 saving in 2012.
Out of interest how are folks managing their money to do this> Is it best to have the money locked away shortly after payday?0 -
Thriftking, i will be paying out £800 a month into regualar saver. Anything above and beyond that will be whatever i have in my current account the day before paydays. Each to there own, whatever suits you best.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

I plan to make cut backs, sell a few things on ebay and generally be more thrifty and I will transfer out whatever is left in our current account on the last day of the month. I'll also continue to transfer out the "loose change" from the account every Friday (round down to the nearest £10) as I find this a good way of saving the small stuff without missing it!
We currently pay £80 a month into an investment bond but I wont include this in my savings figures.Mortgage Aug 22 £280,000
Current mortgage £28,0000 -

You lot have inspired me to sign up and join in!
I can realistically save £4-5k this year so can you please put me down for £6000 to challenge myself a bit?
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
Would love to join in. Have some debts to pay so 12k isnt realistic but will aim for the full amount and hopefully get somewhere near half.
Good luck!November GC-£128.30/£200
