It has not always been easy for me. It has taken a lot of hard work and determination and a few years for me to get to where I am. Give yourself targets and goals but make them achievable. Once you hit one target, make another one for yourself. It is totally doable! Never give up! ;)

Very excited!!! Have just spent the past hour reading the 11,000 in 2011 page so all fired up! Put me down for 12,000. Hope it's OK that some of that will go towards debt repayments...??

There is an £11,000 in 2011 !!!! I missed that one, though I am close to the target :-)
  • Wow MoneySaverLog, that is pretty impressive!!! Think the £11,000 in 2011 was about making an extra 11,000 though, rather than just saving it. Still - it's all money in the bank at the end of the day ;)

Yep £11k in 11 is in up your income board, about making an extra. So to all the people on here not going for the 12k they should use that board to make up the difference? Its easy once you get going, you come up with loads of ideas.
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.
  • Wow, I am so glad I found this thread, its exactly what I need! I'm newly debt free and motivated to save save save now :j

I am pretty well paid and live with OH so put me down for the full £12,000 in 12 months please.

Im easily going to save £7k easily, but really want the 8 or more so i can hit my 15k target on 01/01/2013. Need to stop impulse buying. BTW how are people doing this challenge, because i get paid on 23rd december, and my savings come out early january, so really that isnt saved money in 2012, are people waiting till the end of january until they get their pay and start counting it then?

Good question. I get paid 14th of the month and so I think I am going to start counting from then. Anything I have left from December's wage will be transferred to savings on 13th Jan (probably very little!) and start the 12K challenge from there.

Excellent, thats what i though, should get overtime in december so that will be a great start in january!!! cant wait for this as seem to be getting nowhere at the moment due to xmas and some stupid spends.

Still got more to spend on xmas aswell, hate having big families lol.

    Good luck to all.

  • I'm paid in the middle of the month, on the 15th so my two regular savers are paid the day after, they will continue till June, then I'll need to find a home for all that cash. What's left then is left to budget with for the rest of the month. Then any extra is saved up later in the month.

I'm trying to find an account for the remaining £500 that would be needed to stay on target, it needs to be short term though as what get's saved here I'm looking to put into a Cash ISA in the new tax year. I'm thinking of something that is not easy to get to, e.g. branch visit only to withdraw any money rather than online access.

My first payday for this challenge will be the 15th Janauary, I'm planning to come close to my target by the 15th December. Good luck everyone, not long to go now :-)
  • Hi can you all me to the list please - for the full 12K

    Thanks :)
