I've already signed up for the 12K but I've just had a LBM. As well as actually saving 12K whch will be mainly ebay. I'm going to keep a tally of how much I save due to BOGOF, reduced items and any other method I can think of not to pay full price. The reason I say this is that I've just been to Sainsbury's and bought some reduced items, mainly bakery - they will freeze. I've saved £4.66, not to mention a 49p voucher from shopping there last time. Small beginnings but I think £1000 is achievable.
Just out of curiosity...how are you planning on saving £12k through eBay? Is this using a business you have set up already or are you going to start something new? £1000 a month on eBay would be a dream of mine but can't begin to think where I would start!0 -
Sorry, American term from work, basically we have a goal an then a stretch goal, e.g. Make 50% profit then the stretch might be 75%... Encourages you to aim above your target, while not making it seem un-achievable (I.e all targets should be SMART - specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time based).
We have the same targets at our place, and based on if we meet the target or the stretch affects what bonus we get.
12k is my stretch, realistically there are going to be a few big pay out months it will probably end up being £10k but I want to aim at the stretch:D:D

Hello
Can I join this one too please?!
I've found I've saved more this year just by writing it down. So will be a good way to keep it going for 2012
Thanks

Just going to do a quick SOA so that I can see if this at all achievable, does it count as cheating that I am keeping £600 in my current account at the moment and trying very hard not to spend it on anything for christmas so that I can start off on 1st Jan with a big deposit into my ISA ; ) I've only just opened an ISA after 2 years of paying off debt so I'm hoping to get as much of my allowance in as possible before April.
Total Debt: [STRIKE]£24,359.79[/STRIKE] £16,452
debt reduced by 32%

It's great to see people thinking of new ways to save money and how to reach their targets - that is what this thread is all about!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Just got to find out when im paid in december, want to only to be money saved in 2012, so got to sort my accounts out before hand and get ready. I hopefully get a pay rise in february so that should be more monthly saving. Hopefully anyway.
Will be nice to get the expense of xmas out the way and start! From England - Live in Edinburgh and work as a bus driver0 -

I'd like to join but there's no way I'll get anything near 12K.
I'm pretty much hand to mouth each month and already save what I can.
A realistic challenge for me would be to say 3k - but would be counting what I'll already be hoping to save (plus some extra).
Would 3K be an OK figure for this group?
Or am I lowering the tone?0 -
Id love to join too will aim for 12k but  a grand a month is a little high tried with 11k in 2011 and failed
but will stick at it this time xx

Hi, We have downsized from a rather large house to a much smaller affair, and have over 40yrs plus of clutter as I never used to throw anything out.
This place used to be a nursery (plants) and the previous owners left a huge amount of stuff ranging from plant pots, machinery to several polytunnels and a gigantic irrigation system so I'm going to give it a go and try to see how much I can raise.
I suppose it will be a bit like a business selling all this stuff, I'll need to get very organised. My motto wll be 'If I haven't used it in the last year - it has to go'0
