usually should read - sometimes. Not everybody pays for everything by card and not everybody has a debit card.0 -

Well bully for you. I don't have proof that I went to Europe a few weeks ago.. emails deleted, tickets and receipts thrown away. Why you think everyone is the same as you is puzzling. People do things differently.
So you'd rather give up a job than ask your sister for her copies. Amazing. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

No - not everyone pays cash for everything including ferry or train bookings, fuel receipts, cash withdrawals from a bank a week earlier, euro exchange receipts etc etc etc.
The list is endless - but it's a moot point seeing as the OP never went in the first place. As it's a lie.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

Brilliant idea.:T
Or if you're not very good with photoshop you could tell them you got run over in Paris and lost your memory and all your belongings.
Come on OP, give us an update...Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -

no, you're trying to say that people USUALLY pay for petrol by card and I'm correcting you and saying that it's sometimes, not usually. Usually would suggest that it's the main way to pay0 -

It's irrelevant, as the OP didn't buy any fuel. As he wasn't travelling in a camper van anyway. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Oh what a tangled web we weave.......
I suppose the 5 pages of postings on this thread have been entertaining for the contributors but the fact is that the OP has applied for a job and given false information. It does not matter why.
IMHO the OP's best option is to call the firm and say that he is disappointed with the lack of trust they are showing in him and that because of this he is withdrawing his application. Why risk being exposed? Why risk getting the job and then being exposed (the OP is clearly not a good liar!)?
My advice is never lie about anything to do with a job application UNLESS you can be certain you will never be found out!Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

I think this is what I would do in the OP's shoes too UNLESS he is on JSA in which case he can't turn down a job, if that is the case it is probably better to admit defeat and come clean, explaining exactly why he didn't put the job on the CV and if they withdraw the offer put it down as a good lesson for the future.0 -
