I was under the impression Ebay don't really recognise "collection only" in disputes I.E. if OP can't prove delivery they lose the case and have a black mark against their name
Surely if something is lost in the post and a buyer starts a dispute - as long as the seller refunds their costs then there won't be a black mark?0 -

Yes of course a seller can refund in full to stop the claim- but then seller has no goods and no insurance to claim their loss from a courier arranged by buyer.
But in this instance the buyer doesn't want to pay postage - so if the buyer pays by paypal and then claims no delivery - the seller can just refund the costs and everyone is back where they started but with the seller able to relist but with no black marks against his name?0 -

I can see your point and I would be somewhat cheesed off too. But I think you have to be the bigger person and just cancel the sale. Who wants to deal with someone who is just gonna be a big pain in your ar.......bum!?
If you had several other watchers on it, you will surely be able to get one of them to accept a second chance offer, like Hermum suggests.

whilst I agree the buyer is wrong in adding postage seemingly out of the blue, the seller is wrong in expecting free postage where no posting method was offered. If the listing clearly states collection only, with no other options then the buyers only flaw is in how they sprung the postage cost on the buyer.
I find honesty goes a long way - if the buyer had of been upfront stating the item's 30 miles away and that it would cost more to post BEFORE whacking the fee on, then the seller would have had to chance to dispute/agree or arrange collection themselves instead of it all escalating to this point.
You seem to be very confused over this thread, you have two buyers & it goes downhill after that.0 -

A buyer has to agree to a mutual cancellation, if they refuse then the OP can't then open a SNAD and gets stuck with the fees.0 -

I just want to clarify - if someone (not necessarily this case but in general) buys an item and pays by paypal, the seller posts it and it gets lost. The buyer doesn't contact the seller, just starts a not received query, the seller responds to this by refunding the price and postage....ebay still takes their fee, despite both seller and buyer agreeing that the item was lost in the post?
I'd like to believe ebay wouldn't do this (hence the clarification) and would refund fees but nothing surprises me about ebay!0 -

Yes ebay still take their fee unless buyer agrees to a mutual. The difference in this scenario though and yoru earlier one is that if selelr has actually posted th eitem themselves they will have surely taken enough insurance to cover the loss and can reclaim from the courier.
