Hi
I'm here, though perhaps you'd rather I wasn't. I would promise to behave & keep it clean, but I'd never manage it.
Hugs Hester

Great to see a new thread & lots of new posters.
Lets hope this thread grows & develops as well as the others have.
A good day here. Went to Boots & traded in £5.00 of points for 3 bottles of Imperial Leather foam bath & 2 deodorants so that should keep me going for a bit.
One of the charity shops in the town I visited today had changed to a 'Clearance' shop. Lots of items of clothing and bric a brac at £1 & £2.
Got a pair of brown leather ankle boots in as new condition for £2.00. Really pleased especially as the CS shops round here have been getting expensive. Perhaps they are starting to realise that they might make more money by selling a higher volume at less per item. Lets hope so.0 -
I haven't been posting much as I seem to have upset a few people so I'll make my apologies in advance. I don't necessarily agree with everything posted here but we are all entitled to our own opinions so I won't be changing anytime soon.
Anyway on to OS.......
Welcome to all the new people - good to "see" you all!
I've arrived home to find a friend of my mother's had left a carrier bag for me. Inside, wrapped in wet newspaper, is a couple of roots of horseradish. I don't have anywhere to plant it tonight so I've soaked the paper a bit more and hopefully it will be all right until tomorrow night when I can find it a permanent home outside.
To be honest it's not something I've ever used at all so I'm not sure what I'll do with it when it grows. Hubby hates it - he had an unfortunate incident at a buffet a while back where he mistook it for mashed potato and took a massive mouthful. I thought he was about to explode as he downed both my drink and his own before coming up for air.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I'm hoping to make jam tomorrow night in the breadmaker. I do need to get pectin though and it doesn't seem to be something I can locate in Glasgow city centre having spent my lunch hour on the hunt today. Hopefully Mr A will have it and I can pop in there tomorrow night on my way home. It will only make one pot however as we can only eat one pot at a time that will be quite sufficient.
I think I should stock up on tinned tomatoes as my supply is down to 3 tins:eek: so I'll be researching where the best offers are.
Not much else on the money saving front today but my total spend was 40p for a newspaper so I guess it wasn't too bad:)0 -
Hello all,
I couldn't resist the invitation to delurk - so another newbie here
I've been working from home today, and have got beef stew in the slow cooker ready for my OH when he gets home. Have also made crumble with tinned peaches but have eaten half of it already :shhh:
I've learnt so much from these MSE threads that hopefully I'll have something to share, too.Keep calm and keep crafting :happyhear0 -
*gets out a feather duster and gives the new thread a quick going over*
.
Excuuuuuse me!!! I'll have you know the thread had a thorough going over with my microfibre cloth before I started it. Are you casting nasturtiums on my cleaning prowess?
Hope you feel better soon.
I'll have to look at Kittie's new thread as I like the idea of moneyspending.
I think alot of people are realising that savings are not necessarily the best idea for pots of money atm (I'm talking pots of money, not emergency funds). As some of you know OH's work involves the constructiion industry amongst other things and although we have seen developers go a bit quiet we are still getting plenty of work from self builders and small contracters who are putting their money into bricks and mortar for the future. At least their building work is still providing jobs for some of the trades affected by the recession.
PS SmileyT I have to be honest with you and say that while you continue to sport that particular dog walking attire you are going to attract a few wronguns. No offence hun and thanks for the pics.

I'm taking the kids to legoland (trafford centre) tomorrow on my brothers staff pass and i'm being very os and taking a packup instead of paying a fortune for stuff while we're there. free afternoon out for us and a couple of friends:). sure I will be back on again very soon xx love to all xxfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
This new thread already has a positive vibe. I shall look forward to reading and posting more frequently. Many thanks for starting it xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

I just thought I had better use the duster before it decides to take it's chances and migrate to warmer pastures in the hope of actually being used :rotfl: I'm not casting anything on anyone, not without written instructions and a disclaimer for when my black thumbs kick in. Thanks for the get well wishes
If smileyt is walking the dog in that get up then she is going to start needing to wear thermals under it before anything important gets frost bitten.0 -
*sticks snout carefully through the curtain and quivers in fright in case anyone bites*

Hello, and thank you for the (embarressingly admitted) skimmed reading you've all provided ... I can't mention anything specifically ... as I've not caught up on the last one yet
