Orange Wednesdays 2-for-1 movies

They did always charge 10p for the text but a 250% price rise- I'm sorry it's another reason why I'll be off to 3 at the end of my contract!!You know what... you can't beat a good bargain!!!0

The past two text tickets I received (in June) were free. Now 35p a text... yeesh. This Orange contract isn't lasting longer than 12 months, for sure. After itemised billing, this is the second price increase in two months
Looks like Orange want to put prices up but are skirting around the core services to avoid cancellations. 0 -
one that note (fresh from spending £11 to go to the cinema last night)
Anyone know what the lowest cost of having an orange Sim?
My phone is unlocked, so was thinking that mebee I could have a sim "just" to take advantage for the Orange Wednesday's deal?
I've had a quick look at their site - looks as if you have to top up £10/month to get any of their special offers (free texts, etc), but it's unclear what the lowest annual spend needed is for the sim to remain active
Can I buy a sim, top it up once (£10 Im guessing), then only use it for the 241 code?0 -

Straight answer to the last question: No. From their T&Cs (link above) "Text tickets are issued on a priority basis to active customers who spend over £5 per month with Orange."
As for the lowest credit to keep SIM going; you can get a SIM, pay a tenner for credit topup and it will stay active forever as long as you make at least one call every 6 months.0 -

They normally give you a £1 credit when you register your PAYG Sim. Their T&C say this i quote
"3.4. We will disconnect your phone if during the previous six months, you have not Registered a new pay as you go Voucher or you have not made chargeable calls from your phone or received incoming calls on your phone. For the avoidance of doubt calls shall include but not be limited to voice calls, data calls and text messaging. On disconnection your mobile telephone number will be reassigned. On re-connection you will be assigned a new mobile telephone number. Any remaining credit on your pay as you go Voucher will be reinstated if you reconnect. You can reconnect your phone without having credit on your pay as you go Voucher."
So as long as you recieve or make a call or text every 6 months ,their is no need to even top up by £10 to keep sim active. The £1 would last approx 5 years at one 10p text every 6 months.PF.0 -
Was going to go to the cinema today to take advantage of the 241, Oh well all goods things must come to an end I suppose.I hate migraines.0

Come on, so they charge you 35p to get a free ticket worth about £5.00. Yes it is a price increase, but lets not get too worked up over it."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

pin, to be fair I think people are getting worked up because it's one of MANY changes and increases. I don't even use the Orange Wednesday 241 offer (never have done), but it still disappoints me to see the change. I seriously cannot understand what is going on with Orange at the moment. I got a great deal with my last contract, but I'll be off in about 4 months as it's simply not worth the bother of a new price increase every five bloomin' minutes.0

No, I appriciate that. Since FT have taken over the bean counters have also taken over. I do agree that Orange has become less and less attrative with their many extra charges."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -

I have an old Orange OVP Virgin tariff. I rarely spend more than £1 to £2 a month, but I have always been able to get an Orange Wednesday ticket in the past. Have they changed this recently?0
