Orange Wednesdays 2-for-1 movies
Hi guys. I used to be with Orange but left the network shortly after they started their Orange Wednesdays 2-for-1 cinema promotion.
I'd really like to continue to take advantage of it, and since my contract phone is unlocked (I think), I'm wondering if I can just buy a cheap PAYG SIM for Orange, and simply use it to send the text to Orange to get the 2-for-1 cinema code back from them.
I've never had a PAYG phone, so I'm not sure of the process at all. How do I get a SIM card under this deal, and how often would I need to 'top-up' to keep it active?
Or does anyone have any other suggestions on how to make the most of this offer? My sister-in-law is with Orange, so could I just get her to apply for the text and then forward it on to me? (I remember that the cinema had a special machine they typed a code in to, so I'm wondering if it somehow renders these codes untransferable.)
Many thanks for your help, and sorry if this has been covered before. I did do a search and hadn't spotted it mentioned.

I have used the Orange Wednesday a few times in the past on my simcard which is used regularly and I have been with Orange for years. One day I tried with a new sim of my daughter's and they texted back saying something like it was for regular users only.
I would think you could get away with your sister texting for the code then forwarding the code through to you. Sometimes I have found the cinema staff have actually wanted to see the text and I had to pass the phone accross, other times I have just read out the code to them.

I have an Orange sim (PAYG) that's about 4 years old, I stopped using it about 2 years ago as I went to an O2 contract. I tried using it for the Orange 2 for 1 cinema tickets and it works ok. The £4 or so credit on it has lasted for years, lol! At our cinema (Odeon), they don't mind whether you have the actual text message or if you've scribbled the reference number on a scrap of paper.I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0

If you are on PAYG or contract, simply text "FILM" to 241. They will send you back a code via text. Show this code to the person at the cinema when you buy a ticket. They have their own system which checks the code, once they have they give you the 2nd ticket it for free!
More info here:

When you buy a sim if quite often comes with credit so you can just keep using that every wednesday.
OR if you don't have an Orange sim but you know someone who does (and won't be using their code that day), ask them to get the code for you and forward the text your phone. I've done this a few times, and hasn't been a problem.0 -
Do they charge for the one you send?
Do they charge for the reply?

Does anyone know if Orange do a PAYG Sim that doesn't require a minimum monthly topup?
I'm porting off Orange to O2, so just want a Sim that I can use for Orange Wednesdays.0 -
None of the networks require monthly top ups on PAYG phones apart from the o2 online sims0
