Employers visiting me tomorrow...

Well done for facing up to the visit and telling them the issues, most employers want to help and will do everything they can as long as people cooperate. Good Luck
I am quite shocked though that some people on here think that 5 weeks sick is not a long time, it seems a very serious amount of time to be off to me. Clearly it depends on the illness but anything more than a few days is exceptional in my mind and I would expect the employer to be concerned about it.Life is too short to drink bad wine!0

            Emmzi, thanks for that.....
I agree, it's best not to chat about my dd with o/ health, as I tried not to with work in meeting, like I expalined to managers today, it's work related & home related, if I can sort at least one or other out then weight will be lifted, if i can be lucky enough to sort a little out with both again I will feel better x
I am pleased that I got a few things off my chest with work related stress, some of the things I said today, one of the manager's said she is pleased I mentioned cos she didn't know and she was glad I bought it up.
They mention o/ health may take a few weeks, I said I understand. I think its a postive thing seeing one. I think they were happy I agreed for it to happen to be honest.
Going to have a drink later, think i deserve one, lol......cheers x

Bobl, The problem is as an employer, if one of your staff is off sick with stress, too much contact can actually make things harder for them and can be interpreted as harassment.
If the OP,s stress has been diagnosed as work related stress on her sick notes her employers have to tread very carefully or they could end up at a tribunal.
Well done OP , you did brilliantly and very best wishes for the future.:T0

I think you did really well, kept them focused on you and not your home life.

I have to say that my thoughts were that 5 weeks sick leave is quite a short time for the employer to be going out to have a meeting with the employee. Especially as OP is due to visit her GP again on Friday. My advice to a business client would be to wait and see what happens after the GP appointment (since there is a possibility that the employee may return to work, or alternatively a longer sick not may be issued which may then justify a home visit).
One other thing, OP. From what you say, you may be covered by a company sick pay scheme. Check your contract of employment to see what it says about sick pay. If you are being paid under a contractual sick pay scheme then it becomes much more difficult for the employer to dismiss you until your entitlement to company sick pay has expired, as this would form the basis of a breach of contract claim. But it does depend on the wording of the sick pay scheme.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

            Really?
Point me to a thread about men being off for stress and depression, please.
If they exist - and perhaps they do - i suspect for every one that exists, 10-20 feature women who 'can't cope'.
This really isn't the place to post links to other people's threads.
OP - glad you got on OK.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

 How convenient.
The subtext to my comment is, of course, I often wonder how stressed people really are when they say they are stressed.0
