    Hello!

I'm really pleased because I made some super yummy chicken liver pate.
As I was going to my butcher's at the farmer's market to buy some more meat I thought I would give him a little as it was made with his chicken livers.
We've chatted A LOT in the past about OS recipes and the like. I've been a very regular customer. He knows me and my baby by name and always asks me how the meat he sold me was etc....

Anyway, he seemed annoyed that I gave him some of the pate. It was only a little bit.

I'm not British and I wonder did I make a big cultural faux-pas by offering him some pate?

I just like sharing things with other foodies...I certainly never expect anything back.

    Did I do wrong?

    Congratulations Thriftmonster!!!! :j :j :j

I've had one of those mornings  Was hungover so had a slightly upset tum, and popped into McDonalds on way to work to use the loo - where I dropped my keys on the floor  and instantly forgot that I'd dropped them before I got around to picking them up  (luckily the floor was clean!) So another 15 minutes down the road I suddenly remembered that my keys were still at McDonalds  ran all the way back to collect them (a member of staff had them behind the counter) and of course by then I was lathered with sweat from running all that way, not to mention the hangover, and I couldn't face going straight into work in that state so I went home and had a shower! I knew nobody would miss me till 10 at the earliest cos that's when my training course started, but it wrecked all my plans for the day - was sposed to have my first ever mystery shopping job, which I had to cancel as I knew I wouldn't get a long enough lunch break  and I couldn't move it to a different day as I'm on jury service next week and life will be officially on hold for a fortnight!

Anyway, reason for hangover was this charity event I went to last night. Was quite well behaved on the drinking front for the first couple of hours during all the networking (loads of charity volunteering reps were there plus the Mayor and various other VIPs) but after dinner I got chatting to somebody who turned out to have gone to the same school and church as I used to in Durham - small world! - and that's when I had glass after glass of wine :o

The OTHER very productive introduction I had last night was to somebody who works for a charity which is virtually at the end of my road, which I walk past every day, and which I'd been thinking I'd like to get involved with. Specifically, I discovered that there is somebody there at the moment who is running EXACTLY the sort of project I am interested in helping with - teaching teenage mums to shop and cook healthily on minimal incomes - and who is apparently fantastic with the people but terrible with admin/bookkeeping/general organisation. Now is it my imagination or does that sound like a vacancy waiting to be filled by yours truly?

((((Hugs)))) to you catowen, I am dreading the day when my best friend tells me he is going back to Australia (he has been over here for five years and is now making serious plans back home, including having already been accepted to do his Masters)...

Catch you all later, sorry to hear your witch didn't get squashed by a house dlb, she sounds like Hyacinth Bucket except without the immaculate home...

    Rzl xx

I'm up early, going to work from home today,

Queenie, what do you think of my Stardrops: A Users Guide Thread?

Do you think people will use it?

Is there anyway we can index it or keep it stuck to the top of the page. I am happy to monitor, index and edit it if you show me how.
    Hi

I'm glad you're another fan of Stardrops. We love it in our house. If you'd like to create an index for it, do join in the indexing thread. We'll be happy to help you out.

We have been asked by Martin to keep the stickies down to a minimum and we do have quite a lot as it is. But if you wanted to make an index for it, there will be clear links to the indexes to make it easy for people to find.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

    Afternoon

Congratulations Thriftmonster I'm hoping that we will be doing the same in 10 years time.
We have heating :j . However DD has refused to have a sleep so that means I'm not likely to get everything I want done today.

    Afternoon all

Been to Mr T's this morning - went over budget but bought shampoo/conditioner/toothpaste that was on bogof that we normally use - was really annoyed last week when I had to pay full price for the shampoo...Also restocked my baking cupboard which was looking a little bare.

Should be doing some ironing as we're away at a friends for the weekend - but can't find the motivation, maybe I left it at Mr T's???

DH didn't get home until 9.30pm last night and left home at 6.30am this morning - bless him, the drive to the new office is only 45 mins away but with "operation stack" in force on the motorway the whole road system is clogged...I'm sure he'll be glad of a break away tomorrow.....Our friends have just moved to a lovely new house with a pool so we'll no doubt indulge in a dip before helping them make room in the wine cellar! (Lovely people - just spend money like it's going out of fashion - but then again - they work hard for it so it's up to them....jealous ....me? never!! :rotfl: )

Cheesy chicken and courgette lasagne for tea tonight - not very helpful with the waistline but very tasty.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

    Hi everyone!
Just a quick one from me today as due back at work in 5 mins!
OS today has been washing and changing beds although I'm thick as a brick at present and managed to strip the wrong one. I seem to have left my brain in a jar somewhere at the moment....the only problem being that I can't seem to find the jar!! Also have the weekly trip to Mr T's this evening. Am still on target for my January grocery challenge but not made any more pin money savings [perhaps tonight!!]
Had a nice surprise last night...my Daddy had made some seville orange marmalade and given me a jar. Shall have toast at the weekend to sample it!
Plans for the weekend are working here tomorrow [may just sneak in and give you all a wave], finish glossing the door so that we can hang it and then we're off to lunch with my Aunt and Uncle who are moving and have lots of lovely wood to give OH for his furniture [my Uncle taught him how to make full scale furniture in the first place]
Hope you have a fabby weekend.

    Good afternoon everyone,

Thriftmonster - congratulations! That's a great achievement. Enjoy the celebrations! :j

    Happy birthday smokybabe junior! :bdaycake:

*hugs* catowen - that must have been a shock.

*hugs* dlb - good you kept your temper: it's always good to know that the 'officials' are on your side though!

Well, enjoying my day off work. The tooth got pulled out early this morning - was a bit easier than I expected, but certainly wasn't fun. Hasn't been causing too much trouble since, but my jaw is getting rather sore - am on the painkillers! Eating *very* carefully :o At least its done now, and hopefully will help ease things. Glad it's over! At least it means I get the day off work :D

Will get the WM on this afternoon. Am crocheting a bit this afternoon and watching TV with the OH so a nice relaxing day :T Would love a cuppa but have been told to avoid hot liquids

*hugs* to everyone - take or leave as you please :D
