just wanted to wish you good luck on your journey

remember at the beginning it can feel like there are lots of setbacks as you are more aware of what you are doing wrong - and start to try to change.... It is actually where you can also make the most difference to your DFD by switching, cashback, making money, ebaying, reducing costs etc. I swear by mysupermarket.com and seeing how much totals add up - even with the cost of delivery it far outweighs all the impulse spends I would otherwise make - I also get to check what I've still got in in real time before finalising my order

    Good Things about today:j
    • Payday
    • Shopped within budget (for now)
    • My house is looking lovely and clean
    Bad Things about today :exclamati
    • Haven't reduced the debt at all yet.
    • Over my 6 ebay items I still only have one 99p bid
    Spends
    £25 diesel
    £6 beer
    £25 meat
£16 on loo rolls, tissues (lots), toothpaste, soap and bubble bath
£21 on veg and other essential groceries.
This is a lot of detail but I think I think the diary will double as a spending diary and I might use it to analyse my spending.
My new overall budget for all these items is £106 and this came to £93. And this is a big spend weekend what with hungry children to cater for. :)It doesn't include any treat food though, nor any wine for me (I have some in the cupboard), any cat food because I recently stocked up, plus I might need to top up on veg midweek.

Overall though, feeling like a grown up with my shopping and spending today:rotfl:

Hello savingholmes, thank you for your words of support. I'm absolutely amazed every time someone stops by to do this :A

I had always found mysupermarket a bit fiddly and slow so haven't tried it for years, so I might have another look. I always thought that the whole ebaying/switching stuff was an awful lot of effort but then I got a £45 payment from topcahsback last week and have definitely reconsidered. And the whole ebaying thing is fun, plus the decluttering is good for the soul:)

HI Banwa - if it makes you feel any better- I still haven't sold anything on ebay!

My supermarket - I mostly shop from my last trolley (and just change bits) - and over time it gets to know your favourites and puts little stars next to them. You can also upload old receipts into Mr A or Mr T and then it will know what you buy and remind you at check out. I'm one of those people who goes into a shop for milk or bread or both and comes out having spent £50 not sure why.... Hence this is my strenuous effort to avoid the shop altogether..... I'm still recovering from an operation - so heavy trolleys are still not recommended so even more incentive to use online shopping.

In the summer when relying on OH for grocery shopping there were weeks when we may have spent upto £200 on groceries.... walks off whistling.... / hangs head in shame..... whatever... Knocked that on head now

I do NOT allow my husband to do any kind of grocery shopping. I once spent about three weeks finally getting rid of various types of tinned beans that had been hanging around in the back of the cupboard for about 4 years. I snook them into pies and curries and casseroles until one day, phew they were gone.

Only my darling husband triumphantly came back from the supermarket laden down with all sorts of tins of beans because he noticed we had run out. :rotfl: I could have cheerfully throttled him.

The Good and Bad thing I sort of :o[STRIKE]stole[/STRIKE] adapted from a post on your thread (the 'what I'm good at' one). I thought it was a great idea.

Glad it helped - wow, I feel really cuffed now that I might've helped a wee bit:o

I'm very glad you popped by and added some comments about cat carriers .... feeling a lot better that if any non pet owners happen to stumble on my diary that .....

    At least they'll think we're both loons:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    • Did 3 hours today doing seasonal job. £21 - reducing time in debt by 11 hours
    • Got £50 for summer work
    • Realised I had no garlic bread to go with bolognese tonight, so baked some rather than traipsing to shop. Bread was a bit of a strange consistency because I only had plain flour, but children said it was lovely.
    • Got £2.67 for one of my items on ebay. 1/6
    • The best one - the good people of the MSE forum have persuaded me that consolidation is not the way to go. Feeling energised about the whole credit card shuffle thing. Need to update the thread I started and thank them:A

Your story about the beans really made me laugh banwa :rotfl:. I'm the same as you, OH is not allowed to grocery shop unless accompanied by an adult :rotfl: He's a real foodie and if allowed would buy all sorts of weird and wonderful items!

I like your idea about the time in debt-v-cost of items, aka, fish n chips! Going to have a go at this to see if it helps to motivate me ;).

    Good Things about today
    • 2 more items listed on ebay
    • 1 x £30 bid for one of my items that I really didn't think would sell
    • Mum and Dad came round - yay! Brought eggs and a hige cake - double yay!
    Bad Things about today :exclamati:(:(:(
    • Earlier spent £15 on a craft item from ebay. It's so I can try and make some things to sell but it might be another hairbrained waste of money. Going to give it a bash though.
    • The news about Marco Simoncelli has left me really shocked. And sad:(.
