  • I feel your frustrations with the *children*...should use that word loosely, but in this case it seems very apt. It's my OH who frequently walks away leaving the freezer open, he's so absent-minded on times. There's no excuse for treating you like Cinderella though...do they get away with it with their Mum?

I think you should go with Nora's idea too....!

He did actually say something about the fridge to them in the end, when he went in the kitchen and found it open himself.

What I don't understand is he used to be such a hard father, I'm not sure where all this lenience has come from. Permissiveness is the word I would use actually and I think that annoys me as much as the misdemeanors themselves.

It's a mixture of two things.
One, he thinks if he says anything to them, they'll stop seeing him.
Two, it's never his problem. Wrapper in the middle of the floor? The household pixie will shift it. Out of loo roll? Out of shower gel? Out of drink? The pixie will drive to the shop and buy new.

When the pixie makes it his problem, the "couldn't care less" will sharp disappear.

And I am going to try the shower gel idea. Anyone got any ideas about subtly rationing loo roll? ;)

Easy. Buy the cheapest most god-awful stuff "as the spare" you can find and hide the good stuff.

Then he should shut it every time, not "when he comes back", but every time he takes something out. His hand should not leave the freezer handle unless the door is shut.

  • Hi Banwa and everyone :D

i've been reading but have not posted much sorry :o - sometimes i just get the chance to read and dash but as i may have some helpful words - mind you i say may... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Loo Roll - i read this on another thread *can't remember which sorry* and it was to do with much younger children i think - anyways - if you squeeze the loo roll - you know to make it not so round so that when you pull the loo roll you'll only pull 1 or 2 sheets forward as it won't roll so easily? I actually thought this was a genius idea and hope its of help :D

Am I the only one who is staggered that there is still a market for the stuff - well, other than for Banwa's step-kids that is! ;)
