Rant - tom cat harassing my cats

  • Try the cp. I got a cat neutered myself without the owners permission. he wasn't aggressive but had terrible scars from fighting and was really miserable.he was a softie. The cp were really helpful and paid for the neutering, but it was my responsibility if the owners complained. They never even noticed.
I did ask them why they didn't have him done, but the Neanderthal of a fella said they liked him to be tough and wanted him to fight. They were proud of his scars, but never took him to the vet. They had named him Rambo.
it was lovely to see him a few months later lying in the sun and so contented. They did seem to feed him well. I often wonder what they thought of the change in him.
Get the cat and get him neutered, they most likely won't even notice.

Thanks but what if they DO notice?

As I was the one speaking to them several times they would have known it was me getting their cat neutered plus if I was to do that - I would need to literally cat nap him, keep him at my plave overnight (to starve before the op), take to the vets (pay for cab there and back - I do nor drive/have no car), pick him up later on in the day and then let him out and hope they wont notice him missing for 24 hours/his bits missing and putting 2 and 2 together? I would need to book a vet appointment, they are not always avail;able for next day etc etc. The logistics of this seem impossible to me :(

I do nto feel very comfortable doing that, I have nowhere to keep him overnight (dog and 3 cats at home) before the op, I have no money to spend taking him to/from vets :(

I REALLY was hoping that talking to those people, showing them photos, explaining things would make a difference - nope, they just refuse to neuter the cat, they want him to be the TOUGH FIGHTING cat.....

By the way - as all my cats were always neutered at 6 months I have no idea - with an adult cat would neutering DEFINITELY help to calm him down and stop fighting/looking for a fight?

I think those of you advising the op to get the cat neutered are in serious need of a reality check

You are advising her to break law. The owners are going to notice the cat has stitches the bits missing and if I was the owner of the cat I would know who to be suing as well as the vet

If it was a stray then yes it's a possible way forward but it's not a stray it is someone's cat

Poor Teddy is crying by the front door but I am not letting him out - I can see the other cat in our garden since early morning enjoying himself while my poor Teddy is practically on house arrest.

It is just simply so damn wrong.

Teddy does not bother anyone, everyone loves Teddy and cals him for cuddles/makes fuss of him and he so enjoys being out in the garden but I simply can not let him out while this poor vicious through not fault of his own cat is around :(
  • o god this is familiar to me....
Last year a stray cat. spraying all over the yard and garden and fighting with my cats...
i was always 'on guard' and running out everytime i heard fighting....
he was a ginger tom cat... a bit skanky, as he was always fighting and covered in blood from other tomcats!! but even tho he was a terror i sort of felt sorry for him...
eventually i started feeding him (my reasoning was that if i was nice and kind to him he would be nice to my cats!! haha)
he came one day and was in a terrible state and i thought ' enough is enough' and i phoned the vets...... i had him neutared and checked over.... and they said he had to be kept in to recover!!!
o my god- in MY house with MY cats........

we kept him in the bathroom away from MY cats.. his bed was there and tray and food and warmth.... and then let him out when he was better...
he kept coming to visit and we decided to keep him..... he isnt allowed out anymore as he got shot earlier this year when he went for a wander....... he is a permanant house cat now and is better behaved but has to be kept in check!!! its not easy but we are glad we got him sorted out..

my point is this -( finally-) once he was doctored.... we had a spate of tomcats coming round.....i think he lost his title of head sprayer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so even if the black cats is neutared...... there will be another one come along!!! and so it starts again

The problem is there is a lot of cats around here but NONE of them causes any problems ( I can only assume they are all neutered) apart from this particular one.

And he is a really lovely cat so can not even blame him for what he does as it is natural to him in a state he is in.... BUT I resent the fact that it is my cats that suffer and my own pocket is suffering too if something happens to my cats because of the owners of unneutered cat attitude...

If you see him in the garden prior to letting Teddy out then i'd get a cup fall of water and take aim. Repeat as needed and then hopefully the sight of you will have the cat leaving. It's what I have done in the past and I wouldn't mind someone doing to my own cat if she were causing a nuisance.

I am in a 1 st floor flat, this is a large communal garden - no way I can aim from the window or run down to catch him with water as he is much faster then me plus do not see the whole garden from the window :(

have you ever fancied owning him??

just a thought...... they obviously dont give a flying fick about him and the trouble he is causing.....

if you asked to keep him, you could get him done, and then train him to get on with your cats....

or am i living in cuckoo land......................:rotfl:

How many flats share the communal garden? Just wondering whether you could ask the other flat owners/renters for permission to get some sturdy netting and cordon off a patch of grass, so that you could take your cats down there and shut them safely into their own enclosure, then fetch them back in later. They'd still be able to sunbathe, and hopefully the other cat would realise it's pointless trying to get at them and leave them alone.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D
